Late on Wednesday the club confirmed the exit of David Rochela. He cancelled his contract in order to join Thai club Buriram United FC. He was one the gems of the youth teams, but never found the way to settle at the first team.

David Rochela has left Deportivo. The Galician centre-back cancelled his contract –lasting until 2015- and accepted a big offer coming from Thailand. He accepted to play for Buriram United FC, a team with several Spaniards at the squad and that has won two of the last five titles at the Thai Premier League.

He made the medicals on Wednesday and will join the team in the coming hours. The Galician centre-back was inscribed in la liga with Deportivo, but only as a special petition of the player as he wanted to have a granted spot in case of failing to complete his transfer.

Within the last decade Rochela was always considered as one of the pearls at Deportivo La Coruña; he can play as central defender, but also as a pivote. The Galician kid arrived to the club in 2003 and spent eight years at the youth teams; he also played for all the youth teams of Spain and even performed in a FIFA U-17 World Cup.

But he was unable to earn a spot at Deportivo’s first team; on January 27th, 2010 he officially debuted at the first team during the Copa Del Rey game against Sevilla FC. It was the quarterfinals and Depor was practically eliminated after losing the first-leg 0-3; he debuted as a midfielder after replacing Juca at minute 79.

The true is that coaches Lotina, Oltra and Fernando Vázquez never counted with him, for this reason he was loaned twice during last season, first at Racing Santander, a disaster move as the poor organization at the Cantabrian club left him without solid chances to demonstrate his value, later he moved to Israeli club  Hapoel Tel Aviv

It turned to be a positive switch for Rochela, he managed to play three games in the regular round and later he made ten more appearances in the final round of the league tournament, always completing the full ninety minutes. In the end his team ended third and qualified for the UEFA Europa League.

But it didn’t impress coach Fernando Vázquez and Rochela continued to be the last choice for the centre of the defense, El Profesor said since the first day of the pre-season that he wasn’t counting with the 23-yer-old defender.

The exit of Rochela means that the final list of players at the first team is reduced to only seventeen men, and only two of them are centre-backs: Kaká and Carlos Marchena. But in any case Vázquez has more options with Uxío Marcos and Pablo Insua, actually the latter has been a starter within the first three matchdays in liga.
