Fernando Vázquez could end up playing with a new system against Real Madrid Castilla, so far he has used three different systems during the league matches. However the last-minute casualty of Wilk could change the plans.

Coach Fernando Vázquez has used three different draws after eleven matchdays at Segunda División. He started with the traditional 4-2-3-1, which later was switched into a 4-4-2 and into a 4-1-4-1. The changes were made as the coach is still searching for the proper draw as the team is lacking punch, definition in attack and especially depth on the sides.

And a fourth change has been prepared throughout the week at Abegondo. The Galician tactician has been testing a 4-3-2-1 scheme, a pyramidal figure that instead of searching for the needed depth at the sides it is renouncing to it as it’s focusing the efforts at the centre.

The idea is to located two players with passing skills at midfield –Teles & Juan Dominguez- who are joined by a player with a defensive profile, and the three of them perform behind Juan Culio and Rudy, two skillful players that trend to perform towards the centre.

However the unexpected casualty of Cezary Wilk could change the plans. The Polish midfielder suffered a knock during Tuesday’s training and the coaching staff was hoping that he was going to be fit to play, but the player didn’t pass a test on Friday and was already ruled out of Sunday’s game.

Wilk -a starter within the previous seven liga meetings- was going to be the defensive midfielder in the game, now the main option is to allow the return of Álex Bergantiños to midfield and to see Carlos Marchena making his first appearance as a starter, which could turn the formation into a 4-2-3-1, though it’s also possible to keep the plans of the 4-3-2-1.

The main fact that could move the coach to return to the 4-2-3-1 is the poor performance of Fabril’s players during the last games. On Thursday the B team could only draw 1-1 hosting UD Barbadás, Vázquez stated before the clash that he was going to make decision watching the game and surely he wasn’t impressed at all by the performance of Paulo Teles and Bicho. However, the 4-2-3-1 needs wingers, something that’s highly missed at Depor’s first team. It’s a puzzle tormenting Vázquez all season long.

What seems clear is the defensive line for the game. Lux will stay at the goal, Marchena enters in order to join Pablo Insua at the central positions, while Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ keeps playing on the right. Luisinho is another novelty as he re-enters into the starting lineup performing at the left.

No matter the scheme to be used in the game Álex Bergantiños should return to midfield territory and will join Juan Dominguez. The big question is if Teles will start despite his poor game on Thursday, there aren’t many options after the coach criticized Juan Carlos during the week and at the same time assured that Antonio Núñez is only fit to play for forty or forty-five minutes.

The final decision on the draw will also determine the exact position of Portuguese Rudy and Argentine Culio on the pitch, while Borja Bastón completes the lineup performing at the centre of the attack.
