Coach Joaqu?n Caparr??s said on Monday that one of the most important things is to have a 'lineup in the head '... and he already has a clear picture in his brain. Only four of the eleven men that will play against Zaragoza were at Deportivo during the past season.

After several tests and experiments, Caparr??s has already found the lineup that he wants for the new season. This list of eleven men is the one used during the main friendly games of the pre-season like the matches in the Teresa Herrera. Injuries (Valer??n) and probable departures (Duscher and Andrade) have affected Caparr??s' plans, but the coach has emphasised that he has players with enough skills to perform in different positions. He also likes the fact of having young kids that are trying to find a place in Primera.

Dudu Aouate is probably the only player that has a secure place in the lineup. He arrived in a complicated operation from Racing Santander and he will be the undisputed goalkeeper in the squad. Caparr??s has already confirmed the presence of Gustavo Mun??a as the second choice, at least until December. The Uruguayan will obtain a communitary passport in that month and the club could try to sell him during the winter market, then Fabricio or Ian Mackay will have a chance to ascend from Fabril.

The defensive line will be commanded by Alvaro Arbeloa and Albert Lopo, this couple will perform in the centre, at least until Juanma is recuperated. The Andalucian will be ready to train in two or three weeks. The zone could also be affected if Andrade stays in the club. The Portuguese defender should be ready to play in a couple of months, and he will probably have a place in the starting lineup. If Andrade leaves, Caparr??s will have other alternatives like Rodri, Barrag??n or Coloccini.

The right back position will be for Antonio Barrag??n, the 19-year-old defender has won the battle against the veteran Manuel Pablo, the captain could see most of the season from the bench. The left side already has a name: Joan Capdevila. The Catalan will continue to play there and it seems that Rodri will be his replacement. Caparr??s also has Carlos Alc??ntara as a valid option for the job.

Midfield will be the most experienced zone, Sergio and Fabricio Coloccini are the selected men to perform as pivotes. In this way the possible exit of Duscher has already been covered, but if the Argentinean decides to stay in the club, he will recuperate his place in midfield, a fact that Caparr??s has already confirmed. The problems that Sergio has been suffering in his back could affect the lineup for the liga debut. De Guzm??n is the natural alternative to replace him, but Caparr??s has been proving Iago in that position.

is another option to play in the pivote function, but his offensive skills have opened a new opportunity to him: the playmaker's roll. With Valer??n injured, the ex-M??laga midfielder will cover the position until the Canarian is ready to return. Iago and Joan Verd?? are the alternatives that Caparr??s will have in mind.

The left wing is the main position in which Caparr??s has doubts. He has been using Riki for the job, but the Sevillan coach is seriously thinking of signing a new player for this position. However, the alternative could come from the same club, Iv??n P?©rez came to Fabril for the new season and he has already debuted with the first squad. Caparr??s trust in him and the good job made in the friendly against Betanzos could convince Caparr??s that the alternative is already in sight.

Deportivo signed three right wingers for the season 2006/2007: Estoyanoff, Cristian Hidalgo and Pablo Alvarez. But none of them seems to be convincing Caparr??s, the coach is preferring to use Javier Arizmendi in that position. In this way, Caparr??s has reconverted two of his strikers into wingers. The good sensations left by Cristian and the quality of Estoyanoff invites to think that the right wing could be one of the competed positions during this season.

The striking role will be for Rodolfo Bodipo. Curiously he hasn't scored yet with Deportivo. Sebasti??n Taborda will be the alternative on the bench and Caparr??s could be tempted to use Riki or Arizmendi from time to time. The lack of goals in the team is the main thing worrying Caparr??s at this point. For this reason he is trying to incorporate a new striker, a fact that will change the status in this zone.

The differences with the past season are clear. Only four of the eleven players that will start against Zaragoza were in La Coru?±a during the 2005/2006 campaign. The age is another thing that calls attention. The starting lineup that Caparr??s is preparing has an average age of 25. That's a reduction of two years to the one that started against Mallorca on the past season (27.36). This reduction could be too little for some people, but it must be remembered that Caparr??s used Iv??n Carril and R??ben Castro on the past liga debut since V?ctor and Munitis were injured. With both veteran wingers on the pitch, Deportivo had an average age of 30.

The 21-year-old midfielder will play in Racing Santander during the season 2006/2007. Tom??s came from the Cantabrian club as part of the operation Muntis-Aouate, but the overbooking that Caparr??s has in midfield is causing this situation. He will join Momo and R??ben Castro at Racing.
