REBEL CULIO

08 Jan 2014
Juan Culio didn’t show up to the first training session on the week; he didn’t have permission from the club though Fernando Vázquez said that he wasn’t surprised. The Argentine man is willing to leave and join Al Wasl FC.

The transfer of Juan Culio lived a new chapter on Tuesday as the Argentine player didn’t show up to the training session. The first team was called to attend to Abegondo at 17h00 CET after a day off, but two hours before the session reporters were alerted that the playmaker was going to skip the training.

In the end Culio didn’t show up and the club’s spokesman, Rafa Carpacho, told to journalists that he didn’t have permission to skip the session. After the training Fernando Vázquez told to journalist Xurxo Fernández from La Voz de Galicia that ”Nobody told me that he wasn’t going to attend, but neither was I surprised. We will wait for tomorrow in order to make a decision… if he shows up tomorrow.”

The club mentioned in a press release that Culio wasn’t present during the training, but it didn’t offer more details. Last week the player himself visited president Lendoiro and presented the offer coming from Al Wasl FC, which is around the €500,000. Later the playmaker took part of the game against Real Jaén and said after the match that he was “under contract”.

His contradictory behavior awoke criticism from the fans and reporters, many of them were asking for a monetary sanction over the player. In the meantime Deportivo are covering all the sides of the case; during the week it was known that the club’s officials already contacted the candidates to the presidency in order to see if they would allow his exit.

According to Radio Cadena Cope candidate Tino Fernández approved his departure, but only if the club signs first a replacement and if the full money of the transfer is invested in the team. About this regard Radio Onda Cero informed on Tuesday that Lendoiro had accelerated the contacts for the arrival of Ariel Ibagaza (37, Olympiacos FC).

The Argentine playmaker could arrive for free as he isn’t having too many opportunities in the Greek league; in this sense it’s highly possible that the exit of Culio won’t be announced before his replacement isn’t signed, either is Ibagaza or any other player.
