The next lineup of Deportivo is a puzzle with only a few pieces available for coach Fernando Vázquez; he only has sixteen players available at the first team. Juan Carlos, Luis,, Arizmendi and Rudy are disputing two places at the lineup.

Deportivo end the first round in liga with the home clash against Girona and will try to return to winning ways after only picking two of the last nine points in dispute. Coach Fernando Vázquez has problems in offense as he’s losing two players: Luisinho and Culio.

The Portuguese is suspended with five yellow cards and Culio won’t play again for Depor as his transfer to Al Wasl FC is about to be completed. So, with only sixteen available players at the first team, the Galician coach has little options to prepare a lineup.

He opted in not testing any formation on Tuesday and Wednesday, while on Thursday the players completed the traditional session at the gym (always made two days before the games). So, El Profesor will only have the training on Friday in order to test a formation. His puzzle, however, is only composed by a few pieces, so it isn’t so hard to imagine what he could decide.

The two spots of Luisinho and Culio are disputed by four players: Juan Carlos, Rudy, Luis Fernández and Javier Arizmendi. In this sense Fernández could opt in using three schemes: 4-2-3-1, 4-1-4-1 or 4-4-2.

The alternative of the 4-2-3-1 implies to use either Juan Dominguez or Juan Carlos in the playmaking function and then allow the appearance of Rudy on the left wing. Another possibility is to switch the draw from the 4-2-3-1 into the 4-1-4-1.

In this sense Álex Bergantiños would be the centre midfielder, with Juan Dominguez advancing his position in order to join Juan Carlos as the two playmakers. Rudy would end up attacking from the left wing, Antonio Núñez should stay on the right though Arizmendi could also play there, and the central attacker will probably be Borja Bastón. The option of the 4-4-2 would open a spot for Luis Fernández or even for Arizmendi.

The defensive zone should be the same one of past meetings, with German Lux defending the goal, Manuel Pablo playing on the left side of the defense, Laureano Sanabria ´Laure’ on the right side, while the central positions are reserved for Pablo Insua and Carlos Marchena.
