Fernando Vázquez recovers players and is already counting with two reinforcements, but the problems continue as he has a short squad for the game. Córdoba CF, meanwhile, are making several changes at the attacking zone.

For the third straight week the problems continue for coach Fernando Vázquez because, despite recovering players and the fact the club already made two winter signings, the true is that he will once again have a short squad ahead of the visit to Córdoba CF (Nuevo Arcángel stadium, Saturday, 18h15 CET).

Right-back Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ and centre midfielder Álex Bergantiños are returning from suspension, while the club presented during the week two winter singings: striker José Verdú Nicolás ‘Toché’ and left winger Diogo Salomão.

But it could be too soon to debut for the duo; Toché admitted during his presentation that he isn’t fit to play and might be left out of Saturday’s game despite he has been training with the team since Tuesday.  Salomão is in better shape, but the Portuguese player skipped the first two trainings in the week as he was solving some personal issues in Lisbon, though he trained in Wednesday afternoon. The point is that it isn’t clear if Vázquez will pick him for the game only completing the last two sessions with the group and before the meeting.

Centre-back Carlos Marchena remains out with an adductor injury; he trained apart during the week. Also, on Tuesday it was confirmed that right-back Manuel Pablo sustained a grade-two muscle injury on his right thigh during the game against UD Las Palmas, this means a tear in the muscle that will keep him at bay for at least four weeks.

The captain was replaced by Javier Arizmendi during that game; Vázquez confessed after the match that the striker wasn’t fit to play and that, actually, he could have stayed out of the picked players as he was still dragging issues from his Sciatica problem. The Madrilenian attacker trained on Tuesday, but skipped Wednesday’s session due to the same injury, so he’s doubtful at this point.

It means that, if the two signings aren’t picked for the game and if Arizmendi remains sidelined, then the coach will only have fifteen men available for the match. Once again he would have to rely in the players coming from the B squad. During the week the only Fabril’s members training with the first team were keeper David Gómez and centre midfielder Paulo Teles.

Wednesday was a special day as new president Tino Fernández visited the first team before the training session; he had his first conversation with Depor’s coach. The team will complete one more session on Thursday then Vázquez will release the list of picked players as the team travel early on Friday morning to Andalusia. A final training session is scheduled in the afternoon at the sporting city of Córdoba CF.

At Córdoba CF, the game is considered to be really important after the latest victory at SD Ponferradina left the team at the edge of the promotion seats. There’s a campaign in order to fill the stadium on Saturday and it’s expected the best attendance on the season at the Nuevo Arcángel stadium (capacity 21,822 spectators).

The team coached by Pablo Villa has been pretty active during the winter window, mainly in the attacking zone. They already signed three players and released other three for these positions. Two weeks ago they signed right winger Miguel Ángel Nieto from Racing Santander , while at the end of December the Andalusians paid €30,000 for striker Arturo Pérez-Reverte, the top-scorer of La Roda at Segunda B.

These two reinforcements already played with the team. Arturo performed in the three games disputed in 2014 and scored a goal in the 2-0 win over Recreativo. Nieto played in the last two games and was a starter before SD Ponferradina.

A third player was signed on Tuesday: winger Juanlu Gómez, who is returning six years later after performing at Levante UD and Greek club Kalloni FC. Goalkeeper Razak Brimah isn’t considered as a winter reinforcement as he signed as a free agent in December, the Ghanaian is the second goalie at the squad.

Then Córdoba released three strikers: Germán Pacheco was released and went to Peru, while Eial Strahman also cancelled his contract and signed for a second division team in Mexico. Benjamín Martínez 'Benja' also cancelled his link with the club after he was unable to recover from a serious knee injury.

About injuries and suspensions, the novelties are located at midfield as one centre midfielder is out injured and two return from suspension. Pedro Sánchez is the only casualty for the game against Depor as he suffered a Soleus injury in the past game against RCD Mallorca. Meanwhile,  Carlos Caballero and Luis Delgado ‘Luso’ return after been suspended for the clash against SD Ponferradina.
