MATCHDAY 24: VICTORIES FOR THE LEADERS

04 Feb 2014
For the first time in two months the first three places at Liga Adelante were able to win their matches; once again there were only a few goals. Real Madrid Castilla is no longer the last place at the standings.

For the third straight matchdays there were only a few goals on the Segunda tournament. This time only 24 goals were netted, on the previous week there were only 20 –the lowest mark on the season- and the week before there were only 23. The big novelty now was that the first three places won their respecting matches, something that surprisingly occurred for the first time in two months.

Depor got back to back wins clinching a suffered 2-1 win over CE Sabadell CF. Biggest were the victories of the chasers as SD Eibar and Sporting Gijón clinched huge wins before promotion aspirants. The Basques added a 1-0 win at home hosting UD Las Palmas, while the Asturians surprised RCD Mallorca with a 1-3 score playing at Son Moix.

The big loser was Real Zaragoza; Los Maños were shocked at La Romareda by Barcelona B (0-2). The set-back of UD Las Palmas was seized by Córdoba CF despite they only got a 1-1 draw visiting Deportivo Alavés. The Andalusians are back at the promotion seats for the first time since matchday 14 (November).

Recreativo de Huelva jumped to the fourth place after breaking their negative streak with a 2-1 home win over AD Alcorcón; it was a strange game with both sides scoring at the last minute. The situation remains tight at the top, but now with an eight-point difference for Depor compared to the seventh place.
