REVIEW: FABRIL 1 – LARACHA 0 (TERCERA)

04 Feb 2014
Deportivo B returned to winning ways in a suffered victory playing at Abegondo. New signing Marc Nierga debuted and Dani Iglesias scored the decisive goal. The team remains far from the playoff seats.

BEFORE THE GAME
Coach José Luis Devesa was missing centre-back Róber and playmaker Romay, both were out suspended. The only new signing picked for the game was Marc Nierga. The transfer of Miguel Nunes Cardoso hasn’t arrived yet and the club was still trying to complete the paperwork for the signing of Tonći Mujan. Bicho and Uxío Marcos were starters after been picked by the first team for the home clash against CE Sabadell CF. Toni Insua and Juanpa were out injured.

The draw was a 4-2-3-1. Felipe Ramos stayed at the goal, Enrique Fornos performed at the right side of the defense, Adrián Martinez played at the left, while Uxío and Sidibé were the centre-backs, Ángel Fernández and Queijeiro were the centre midfielders, Cañi attacked from the right wing, Álex Pérez did it from the left, Bicho was the playmaker, while Dani Iglesias was the central attacker.

The rival for the game was Laracha CF; the team coached by Manu Mosquera is struggling to survive at Tercera, mainly due to their poor current form. And it’s that they had only won one of the last sixteen matches. Ex-Depor Denis López was part of the starting eleven, while Korean Jae Yong Yun was on the bench. He is playing loaned there.

THE MATCH
Another little step forward for Deportivo B after the scandalous 1-5 loss visiting Cultural Areas. After that big defeat the team clinched two straight draws scoring the goal at the last minute, now it grabbed a suffered victory in a game without story in the first part, but with excitement within the last 30 minutes of the second half.

It cannot be said that both teams didn’t try to offer a nice spectacle, both outfits tried to practice a combinative football. It’s just that they didn’t create clear scoring chances within the first half, reason why the game was beyond boring.

Bicho didn’t shine and the weight of the team in attack was in the shoulders of Cañi and Dani Iglesias. Both youngsters were the only ones that were able to create a scoring opportunity. Cañi completed the first shot on target in the game with a short-range attempt that was repealed by visiting goalie Damián Seijoso (23’). Before, the winger threw a lateral free-kick that Sidibé headed wide (10’).

Dani Iglesias had a double chance in the game, the clearest one was a cross of Cañi that the striker headed out (25’). He also provoked the only yellow card for the visiting team after a challenge of Raúl Añón (7’).

The second half was following the same path, with the ball spending more time at midfield and with both teams missing ideas to create scoring chances. Within the first fifteen minutes there were two opportunities, one for Laracha’s Edu de La Fuente (48’) and the other an assist of Cañi that Álex Pérez couldn’t materialize before Damián (58’).

But things started to change as soon as coach Devesa made a double substitution allowing the debut of Marc Nierga and the presence of Marcos Remeseiro claiming the spots of Álex Pérez and Ángel Fernández. The draw was still a 4-2-3-1, but now Dani Iglesias was performing on the left wing and Nierga was the central attacker.

And just three minutes later the locals scored the lonely goal in the match, which was a combination of determination and some good luck. Cañi released a corner-kick, his low cross was firstly found by Dani Iglesias at the near post, his deflection couldn’t be cleared properly by Brais, then Catalan Nierga found the ball at the box and released a crossed shot that hit the far post, and then Dani Iglesias got it to score his fifth goal on the season.

The goal changed the script, Fabril relaxed and Laracha started to push for the equalizer. Coach Manu Mosquera sent Santi Bouza and Jae Yong Yun into the pitch and the visitors were now having the initiative. Devesa ordered a last substitution and Aarón Rama replaced Dani Iglesias, this in order to put more mark on the left side.

And the visiting team was close to score within the final three minutes, it was then that the figure of Felipe Ramos showed up, a keeper that has been practically sidelined on this season. Raúl Añon was the first one that attempted from close range (88’) and later it was Yun (90+1’), both attempts were saved by Fabril’s goalie with brilliant moves sending the ball out.

AFTER THE GAME
Some fresh air for a Depor B punished by the lack of victories. The team didn’t play well, but at least kept a clean sheet and scored a goal at the decisive moment. This is only the second win for the team within the last twelve matches, the youngsters remain far from the playoff zone (12 points below the 4th place). On next weekend Depor B visit CD As Pontes, the surprising second place in the group.
