Fernando Vázquez is finally having almost all the players available and it occurs ahead 0f the big game against Sporting. For the first time in 2014 he will have to rule out some first team members. The rival has some minor casualties.

One of the big games on the season is in the horizon as Sporting Gijón visits the Riazor (Sunday, 12h00 CET). Perhaps it isn’t a final, but the kind of game that can launch the final steps towards the promotion or instead it could turn to be a stumble that can complicate the dream of Primera División.

The good news is that coach Fernando Vázquez has enough material to prepare the game. Striker Luis Fernández (hip) and right-back Manuel Pablo (muscle strain) joined the trainings on Wednesday and, despite not receiving yet the medical okay to play, they should be available for the weekend. Besides, centre midfielder Juan Dominguez returns from suspension.

It raises the number of available players to 20, so for the first time in 2014 the coach will be able to choose and will have to rule out at least two men. Winger Álvaro Lemos is already training at the same pace than the rest, but will receive the medical okay until the end of the month, while keeper German Lux (knee sprain) remains sidelined, though he completed part of the session on Thursday.

So, Vázquez will build up the list of picked players choosing 17 men among the 20 that are available at the first team and the other spot will be for keeper Marc Martinez. There were other two Fabril’s players training with the team during the week: playmaker Bicho and keeper David Gómez

At Sporting Gijón, coach José Ramón Sandoval is dragging some injury cases, but it shouldn’t affect his plans for the starting eleven. Centre midfielders Cristian Bustos (Achilles) and López Garai (stress fracture) were the players out for the game at the Riazor and the duo was joined by striker Miguel Ángel Guerrero, who sustained an ankle sprain during Wednesday’s training session. The latter is 23 and has only disputed six games on the Segunda season.

Meanwhile, striker Dejan Lekić was dragging a knock from the last game against SD Ponferradina, while left-back Roberto Canella, plus centre midfielder Hugo Fraile and Nacho Cases skipped the first training of the week due to flu. In any case the quartet should be fit to play ahead of the game at the Riazor. In the end the coach is able to repeat the lineup of the 1-1 draw before SD Ponferradina, though a couple of changes are expected to occur.
