Very bad news for Deportivo after it was confirmed that Diogo Salomão & Fabril’s Álex Pérez suffered ACL injuries that will sideline them for the rest of the season. Both players suffered the injuries during the weekend.

The worst possible outcome for Deportivo after it was confirmed that Diogo Salomão suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury (ACL) at the beginning of the match against Hércules CF. After the final whistle it wasn’t expected this outcome as the player was able to stand up and, despite been stretched off, he left the stadium without needing crutches.

But the scans determined that it was a serious injury. The club informed that it will contact the agent of the player and its parent club, Sporting CP, in order to decide what to do now. Surely the player will need a surgery and a long recovery process that could take between five and six months.

Salomão landed in A Coruña at the end of January and had an immediate impact at the first team, even becoming into the most important player in offense. Now coach Fernando Vázquez will have to search for alternatives. The option of hiring a replacement isn’t ruled out yet –La Liga allows to make a signing coming from another Spanish club as this is a serious injury case.

And there was another ACL injury case in the same weekend: striker Álex Pérez. He got injured after only spending five minutes on the pitch during the 6-1 win over Rápido de Bouzas. The 21-year-old attacker will also need a surgery and will miss the rest of the season at Tercera División. He had already suffered a similar injury two years ago.

It’s the second and third serious injury suffered by a Depor’s player on this season and both occurred during the same weekend. The previous case was Álvaro Lemos, who also suffered a knee injury in the pre-season stage held in Monforte. The winger just joined the normal trainings and debuted on the weekend with Depor B.

Ironically, Lemos was the one that replaced Álex Pérez on Saturday’s game and also could be one of the alternatives to cover the spot of Salomão. The other is Ivorian winger Ibrahim Sissoko, who was the one that replaced the Portuguese player during Sunday’s game. It’s still to be known if the club will attempt to make a signing in order to cover this important casualty.

The latest scans confirmed that right-back Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure´ suffered an Adductor muscle elongation on his left thigh. He will be off for at least one more week after missing the home meeting against Hércules CF.
