TOCHE: 1 GOAL EVERY 62 MINUTES

05 Mar 2014
Striker Toché has had an immediate impact at Deportivo after scoring four goals in five Segunda presentations; actually he’s currently the player at Segunda División that needs less minutes to score a goal: 62.

José Verdú ´Toché’ landed at Deportivo during the winter window with the expectation of adding more power to the attacking line of Fernando Vázquez, until that point the Galician outfit was lacking goal and aim. His past numbers at Cartagena CF invited to think that he could add an important number of goals in the quest for promotion.

And in the end the Murcian attacker is fulfilling the expectations, perhaps a little more of what was expected. So far he has made five liga appearances for a total of 249 minutes and has scored four goals, including a brace on last Sunday’s victory over Hércules CF.

It means that he scores a goal every 62 minutes, which is now the best mark at Liga Adelante above Ernesto Gómez (100, CD Lugo), Sergio Mendigutxia (102, Córdoba CF), Borja Viguera (133, Deportivo Alavés), Stefan Šćepović (134, Sporting Gijón), Urko Vera (138, SD Eibar), Dejan Lekić (150, Sporting Gijón), Gerard Moreno (160, RCD Mallorca) and Ayoze Pérez (165, CD Tenerife).

The true is that it isn’t surprising to see Toché leading this chart, because he just landed in January and is number of games is low, and with the passage of the games the tendency should be to see this average rising above the 100 minutes per goal.

What cannot be denied is the immediate impact of his goals, after all three of his four goals have changed the score within the final ten minutes of the games. He scored the winning goal in the victory over CE Sabadell CF (2-1), later the equalizer against Sporting Gijón (1-1) and now the winning goal before Hércules CF (3-2).

On Monday, Toché was telling to journalists that his target is to score ten goals on this season, “Let’s hope I can reach the mark of ten goals, but the important thing is too see all the strikers together reaching a good number. I’m happy for coming and for having a solid start with the team. All the goals are important but, evidently, the feeling is different when they are useful to add points.”
