Carlos Marchena will undergo a late test on Saturday in order to know if he travels to Zaragoza. His presence or not in the game will determine if the coach will keep the 5-2-2-1 draw or if he will return to the 4-2-3-1.

Once again coach Fernando Vázquez is delaying the decision on the lineup to be used in the liga match until the last minute. Last week he released the list of picked players with a delay and in this opportunity he’s waiting to know the fitness of Carlos Marchena before making a final decision.

The ex-Valencia centre-back didn’t train on Thursday’s due to an ankle problem and will undergo a late test during Saturday’s training in order to determine if he will be fit to play. Since the team flies to Madrid at noon (and then via bus to Zaragoza) the coach already released a list of nineteen picked players, which includes the name of Marchena, but if he doesn’t pass the test then the list will be reduced to eighteen men.

The coach is pending on his evolution, because it will determine the draw for the game. Vázquez is planning to continue using the 5-2-2-1 and the ideal thing is to play with Marchena joining Pablo Insua and Albert Lopo at the centre of the defense.

If the Madrilenian is out the option is to delay the position of Álex Bergantiños, which will open a gap for Cezary Wilk joining Juan Dominguez at midfield. However, the coach has tested the 4-2-3-1 in case Marchena is off.

In attack the main novelty is that Diego Ifrán has been included for the first time after his arrival and the Uruguayan might go directly into the starting eleven, either playing on the right or the left wing. Another novelty is that Ibrahim Sissoko has been tested as a possible starter in the two draws tested during the training sessions. The Ivorian player has already played five times with Depor, but in all of those matches coming out from the bench.

The casualty of Toché is making room for the return of Javier Arizmendi, who was left out of the past game against Barcelona B. The true is that whoever is the chosen one to replace the Murcian attacker it will be a facing an important exam as, apart from Ifrán, who never played any minute with Real Sociedad, the other three attackers picked for the game have been inactive lately.

Borja Bastón was the starting choice in the major part of the season, but within the last four games he has only played for eleven minutes. Luis Fernández was the starter at the middle of the competition, but recently was left out of the list for three straight games and just returned to play eighteen minutes against Barca B. Finally, Arizmendi has just played two games in 2014: 36 minutes Vs. Girona FC (January 11) and 35 minutes Vs. UD Las Palmas (January 19).

List of picked players for the game against Real Zaragoza:
Goalkeepers: German Lux & Fabricio Agosto
Defenders: Laure, Manuel Pablo, Seoane, Marchena, Lopo & Insua
Midfielders: Álex Bergantiños, Juan Domínguez, Wilk, Antonio Núñez, Juan Carlos, Sissoko & Rabello
Attackers: Luis Fernández, Arizmendi, Borja Bastón & Diego Ifrán
