CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR INSUA

27 Mar 2014
Centre-back Pablo Insua has extended his contract with Deportivo. He was ending his link with the club in June and now the new deal is lasting until 2018. The player expressed his satisfaction on Wednesday.

On Tuesday the club announced that centre-back Pablo Insua has signed a contract extension lasting until 2018. Early on this season it was commented that the player had sealed a contract extension lasting until 2017, but it wasnt fulfilled until this week, so the 21-year-old player, considered to be the best centre-back at Liga Adelante, is staying for four more years at Deportivo.

Neither the club nor the player wanted to confirm if the release clause (20 million) has been raised. The player offered a press conference on Wednesday and he didnt want to talk of this subject.  No one from the club was present during the event, so this issue wasnt clarified.

Insua commented during the press conference that, I am content for doing it. We have been negotiating for weeks. I am content for belonging to the club for four more years. It neither was too complicated. Clearly this has been my best year and lets see if we can end it in the same way. It will be important to play at Primera on next season. I was lucky to see the club trusting in me since I was a kid. Tito Ramallo trusted in me and I was lucky. My idea is to stay here for the next four years.

Insua signing his contract extension
Insua arrived to Deportivo in 2005 coming from SD Compostela; he was only eleven and slowly climbed from the Infantil B squad to the Juvenil B team. A big jump on his career occurred during the season 2010/11; he was supposed to be promoted to Juvenil A while his long-time partner Uxo was going to perform for Deportivo B., but in the end it was the opposite, because Insua spent more time at Fabril and only played five games with Juvenil A.

The Arzua-born defender made the pre-season stage and convinced coach Tito Ramallo. In three seasons with Fabril he made 98 league appearances. His senior debut occurred on the season 2012/13 after been a normal participant of the training sessions with former coach Oltra. Insua debuted at Primera Divisin on November 25, 2012 as Depor were visiting Athletic Bilbao (1-1). It was two months before he turned 19. Totally he made three league appearances that season.

And another step forward was completed for the present campaign as Insua was promoted on a permanent basis to the first squad (despite having a B squad contract). Hes now a fixed starter with coach Fernando Vzquez and is the third player at the team with more minutes (2,563 in 29 Segunda appearances).
