TACTICS: WAITING FOR SISSOKO

30 May 2014
The fitness of Sissoko will determine the lineup for Saturday’s game. The coach hasn’t tested any specific draw as he’s waiting to know if the Ivorian man will be ready to play or not. Still, there are changes at the lineup.

Ibrahim Sissoko didn’t train on Tuesday and Wednesday as he’s dragging a knock on the left knee suffered in the game against CD Numancia. Thursday’s training was the typical relaxation session, though completed at Abegondo instead of the Zona Fit gym, and the playmaker only completed part of the session.

The doctors aren’t too optimistic about his case and it will be until Friday that the coaching staff will determine if the Ivorian playmaker is fit or not. Sissoko himself commented how he’s feeling, ”It’s a little difficult to be ready. Right now I am not fine, but let’s see. I’m having pain at the moment of walking. It’s complicated as I’m having problems to walk, but want to play. The doctors have told me that I have some chances..

Taking in mind the casualties for the game, with Albert Lopo and Antonio Núñez suspended, and with Cezary Wilk injured, coach Fernando Vázquez could end up only having 17 players for the meeting, it will reduce the options for the game and will force him to pick a player from Fabril – Bicho or Lemos-

Beyond this, Sissoko has been the most constant player in attack within the last two months and his casualty could lead Vázquez to finally present a scheme with two strikers, mainly a 4-4-2. If the Ivorian is fit to play then the coach could opt in playing with a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-1-4-1.

Still, there will be changes at the lineup. Juan Dominguez is available and the suspensions of Núñez and Lopo are forcing to at least have two changes. Carlos Marchena returns to the centre of the defense and the entry of Dominguez will push Bryan Rabello to more offensive tasks. Besides, Diego Seoane could return taking the spot of captain Manuel Pablo at the left side of the defense.
