Pablo Insua is the RCDLC.com young player (U23) of the season 2013/14; the centre-back lived his first complete season at the first team of Deportivo and turned to be a reference, even sitting a veteran like Marchena.

After making his debut on last season, Pablo Insua was promoted from Fabril ahead of the season 2013/14, it was the next step for this 21-year-old centre back after completing 98 appearances for Deportivo B. It was a natural step, but a hard one for the things lived by the club with the last relegation.

With a short squad, he was one of the two players that were promoted by Fernando Vázquez on a permanent basis (the other was Luis Fernández) and the Arzua-born player fulfilled the expectations, to the point that by the end of 2013 he was considered to be the best centre-back in the league.

Insua was constant and played in 39 of the 42 matchdays at Segunda; his main characteristic was to always be well positioned on the field, to the point that he was the player with more interceptions (92) and more clearances (199) at the team.

For the second part of the season the arrival of Albert Lopo increased the depth for the central positions, but Insua continued to be a fixed players at the lineups, to the point that Vázquez had to choose between the Catalan and Marchena, two highly experienced defenders, to be the partner of Insua.

The skills of the Galician player were also recognized by La Liga- He was named at the best starting eleven on the season, a 3-5-2 figure with three centre-backs and with Insua performing at the right side of the defensive trident.

Insua was always a favorite of the fans; actually he was close to win the player of the season award (Juan Dominguez won it by a difference of only eight points). The true is that it was a season in which there were a lot of U-23 players surrounding the first team, but it was Insua the one with the bigger impact. He was named as the player of the month back in October.
