THE NEW COACH OF FABRIL

19 Jun 2014
The changes at Depor’s chart continue. Manu Mosquera is the new coach of Deportivo B. He’s coming from Laracha CF. He’s a former player of the first team and has performed with the veterans. Even his son is currently playing at the academy.

It was commented by the media in A Coruña since some days ago and it was official on Wednesday. Manuel Mosquera Bastida is the new coach of Fabril. The 35-year-old man signed a two-year contract with the option of a third year. He’s replacing José Luis Devesa, who will now have a new role at Deportivo. The club didn’t inform of Devesa’s new role, but the media believes he will be the chief of scouting.

The new coach of Depor B talked to Radio Cadena Ser and explained his feelings, ”My will is to work for Depor, because I understand that’s pretty to work for Deportivo B. It fills you as a coach for the things that brings to you. Deportivo need a connection between the first and the second team. I was already there and this is a kind of return, so I’m pretty content. I am a former player of Fabril and have seen things in the world of football, so this is a responsibility for me.”

He also announced changes for the new season, “If Depor is a reference in Spanish football, then everything made at the academy must also be a reference. The lads must know where they are and understand for what they are prepared. It’s a B squad of a Primera team and they could be picked at any time by the first coach. There will be many changes at the team, because there are lads that are a little old for a B squad.”

Mosquera is a former player of Deportivo. He spent ten years at the club, two of them as a player of the first team. He played 21 Segunda games during the seasons 1989/90 and 1990/91; in the latter the club sealed the promotion to Primera.

Then he left the club and joined C Extremadura, club in which he spent five years clinching the promotion to Primera scoring 20 goals in one single campaign (1995/96). He debuted at Primera in 1996 playing for CD Compostela and then he returned to CD Extremadura to retire in 2005.

One year later the A Coruña-born man began his career as a coach at CCD Cerceda and later landed at Laracha CF, club where he spent three seasons clinching the promotion from Regional Preferente to Tercera División. On the last Tercera season his team clinched the permanence ending only two points above the pit.

After the season ended, Mosquera quit to Laracha as he preferred to focus on his other job: president of the coaching technical committee at the Galician federation and director of the Galician school of football coaches. His intention was to stay out for one year, but then he was contacted by Deportivo and his plan changed. He will now continue with his job at the Galicia federation and will the responsible of Depor’s second team.

Mosquera also has other links with Deportivo; he has performed with the veterans in the indoor league and his son, also named Manu Mosquera, is a very interesting prospect currently competing with the Cadete B squad. He’s the third coach at Depor B since 2001: Tito Ramallo (2001-2012) and Devesa (2012-2014).
