During a Spanish TV program, Lionel Scaloni assured that he wants to coach Deportivo in the future; the Argentine player has repeatedly said in the past that he will like to return to Depor in order to play.

Lionel Scaloni was invited to El Chiringuito, a popular football program in Spain, in order to talk of football and the World Cup.  In the end the Argentine player, who still under contract with Atalanta BC, said that his future plans are to coach Deportivo.

“It’s sure that I will return to La Coruña, and if it isn’t to play then as a coach. I already finished the course and only need the final exam to get the certificate. My dream is to coach that team, because it’s my second home.” He said.

The former Depor’s player had said  in several opportunities that he would like to return to A Coruña as a player, and now his will is to coach the team, and he feels ready for it, “I love football and like everything related to it. I learned a lot of tactical work when I was in Italy. I learned a lot about how to put a team on the field. I will love to return to Depor. I will return. I don’t know when, but I will. I’m still young. I still have a home there and will return one of these days.” He said.

Scaloni is one of the few players with 300 or more official games in the history of Deportivo; actually he made 301 official appearances for the Galician club between the years 1997 & 2006 (200 in liga, 7 in Intertoto, 35 in Copa, 52 in Champions League, 5 in UEFA Cup and 2 in the Supercopa)
