UXO LEAVES DEPORTIVO

22 Jun 2014
One of the surprises for the new season is the exit of Uxo Marcos. The central defender debuted last season with the first team after ten years at the academy. He spent three years at Fabril and was released by the club.

Uxo Marcos is leaving Deportivo. The 21-year-old defender was ending contract and wont be renewed. The club confirmed his exit on Saturday, which is a big surprise as he was considered as a future candidate to join the first team.

The true is that his last season wasnt good, he missed several games at Tercera due to physical problems and seemed unprepared for Segunda during his few minutes in the league.  In the end he only made 13 appearances with Depor B during last season, apart from the physical problems he also spent several games on the bench of the first team.

In any case Uxo is one of the few players that made an official debut with the first team after starting at the lowest squad, Alevin B. This centre-back is a special case in the short history of Abegondo. He landed at the club in 2003 coming from Victoria and since that point he patiently climbed positions until ending knocking at the doors of the first team. Other players like his all-time partner Pablo Insua, wingers Iago Beceiro and lvaro Lemos, plus playmaker lvaro Queijeiro followed the same path.

Uxo was also called to Spain youth teams; he was part of the U-16 national team of Spain, subsequently he was picked to the U-17 national squad and took part of the UEFA Euro disputed in Liechtenstein, tournament in which Spain reached the final losing before England (1-2).
