Many names have emerged as candidates to coach RC Deportivo La Coruña for the Primera season 2014/15; the club’s official are still studying the options and will choose before Monday.

There’s the feeling among the journalism that the exit of Fernando Vázquez was premeditated or that at least had more reasons that only the comments of the coach regarding the signings. President Tino Fernández clarified the issue on Wednesday and confirmed this idea.

What’s also true is that it was an improvised move, demonstrated by the fact that Deportivo didn’t have a replacement already signed at the moment of making the decision. And also by the fact that the status of second coach Manu Sotelo and physical trainer Manuel Pombo hasn’t been clarified.

For now there’s a long list of candidates that have been linked with the club; the main ones seem to be
Víctor Fernández and Quique Sánchez Flores, but before Miroslav Đukić, and Claudio Barragán were also considered as strong candidates.

There are other names linked with the club like Jose Riga, Pepe Mel, Lucas Alcaraz, Juan Antonio Pizzi, Turu Flores and Martín Lasarte. For now the only think that Tino Fernández has clarified is that the new boss should be ready before Monday, day in which the first team begins the pre-season.

The new coach will arrive before the team plays any game and on time to direct the full pre-season, but certainly he will have little room to have a direct impact in the building up of the team, after all at least three signings are already closed or are near to be concluded before to his arrival.
