A week on the road for Deportivo. The first team travelled on Sunday to Colombia and returns on next Sunday after disputing the first two friendly games on the pre-season. Both games are the first summer matches of the LFP World Challenge.

The other three clubs taking part of the LFP tour are Malaga CF (Australia), Valencia CF (Peru and Chile) and UD Almeria (Asia). The worst part for Depor is the retuning trip as it will last two days in coming back to A Coruña after making two stops in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and Madrid.

The first game on the tour is taking place on Wednesday’s morning (03h00 CET) facing Independiente de Santa Fé at El Campín stadium. Los Albi-Rojos are one of the three Colombian clubs that have always played at Primera and have clinched seven national titles. In the last Torneo Apertura –Liga Postobón- the team ended fourth at the standings and was eliminated from the title race by Atlético Nacional .semifinals-

Defender José Julián de la Cuesta is the only one that already played in Europe; he played for Real Valladolid, Cadiz CF and Albacete Balompié. Striker Wilder Medina was the top-scorer in the Torneo Apertura (8 goals).

Deportivo Cali is the second rival in the tour (Monumental de Palmaseca stadium, Friday, 03h00 CET); Los Azucareros -also named Superdepor in Colombia- have won eight titles and was the first Colombian club that played the final in Copa Libertadores. Their last season, however, was poor as they only ended 14th at Torneo Apertura.

The coach of the team is Héctor Cárdenas and among their players are former Real Sociedad and Once Caldas midfielder Jhon Viáfara plus striker Harold Reina, who was playing on loan in Cyprus within the last two years.
