Deportivo is one of the clubs interested in Colombian attacker Teófilo Guitérrez, something already admitted by coach Víctor Fernández, but it’s a hard operation as the rights of the player are shared by an investment group and River Plate.

Since the signing of Bojan Krkić remains in a dead point, Deportivo are already searching for other options in order to reinforce the attacking line and one of the names in the agenda is Teófilo Guitérrez (29, CA River Plate). The Colombian is a very well-known player in South America and took part in 4 of the 5 games disputed by his country during the World Cup scoring a goal and bringing an assist.

Coach Víctor Fernández admitted the interest in the player during the previous press conference to the game against Santa Fé. ”Surely we are one of a lot of teams that want to sign Teo Gutiérrez. I’m conscious of the financial problems to sign Gutiérrez, but the club’s officials are working on his signing. Teo Gutiérrez is one more candidate within a list of players. There are financial limits that are conditioning us. Our performance remains unknown. The squad is not yet configured. We’re missing to sign 9 or 10 players.”

It’s a very complex operation. The player technically belongs to CA River Plate after a complex negotiating with Mexican Cruz Azul. The player cost $3.6 million (€2.66 million), but since the Argentine club had no money, they negotiated to get the 50% of the rights through a Mexican fund, which in the end paid the 100% of the transaction.

In this way the attacker joined River Plate in July of 2013 and played 27 games scoring 7 goals, but Los Millonarios didn’t pay their part and now the investment found want to capitalize the situation taking off the player from River. It’s a mess that hasn’t been solved yet.

Teo was supposed to join River’s training camp on Monday, but the club’s authorities agreed in allow his incorporation until Thursday, but several sources in Argentina believe that the player will only arrive in order to solve his situation and say good-bye.  Now the mission of Depor’s officials is to convince the investment fund in order to get a loan deal, a hard task taking in mind that others clubs are also interested.
