ARIZMENDI & RUDY LEAVE DEPORTIVO

23 Aug 2014
The exit of Arizmendi & Rudy was confirmed on Friday as the players rescinded their contracts with the club. Both were part of the list of five players ruled out for the present season.

Javier Arizmendi and Carlos Wilson Cachicote ‘Rudy’ left Deportivo on Friday after reaching an agreement to rescind their contracts. Both men weren’t part of the plans of the club for the present season. In the case of the Portuguese winger he already signed for Greek club Skoda Xanti FC.

Both men were part of the list of five players that were ruled out by Víctor Fernández (the other three are Seoane, Juan Carlos and Borja Bastón). With these exits the first team of Deportivo has been reduced to 22 members.

Arizmendi was a surprising signing during last summer. He arrived to the club during a critical moment and played as a starter since the first matchday, but lost presence as long as the club started to reinforce the attacking line during the winter window.

The Madrilenian started not as a centre forward, but as a right winger due to the shortage at the squad. The true is that his performance was acceptable within the first three games, even scoring a goal against CE Sabadell CF (0-3, matchday 03).  But later became unnoticed on the pitch, at the time he was also affected by a back problem (Sciatica) that pulled him out for several games.

By the time he was already recovered the club had already reinforced the attacking line. So, he was no longer counting for Fernando Vázquez, to the point that he only made four appearances in 2014 (957 minutes in the whole season). His best moment was to play for 12 minutes in the closing matchday against Girona FC, creating three chances and scoring a goal, the last one of Depor on the Segunda season.

In the case of Rudy, he arrived on last season and never found a spot at the team of Fernando Vázquez. He played 18 games in the first round (922 minutes) and, as soon as the winter reinforcements arrived to the club, he was quickly ruled out of the coach’s plans and was loaned to CF Os Belenenses, but only played five games there

The Portuguese winger was supposed to be the left winger that was going to add depth to the attacking line, but Fernando Vázquez never found a spot for him. The Portuguese was tested in both wings and even in the playmaking function without positive results. He’s a skillful player, but wasn’t tactically prepared to know the difference between making a quick pass or to carry the ball on, which led him to commit errors and lose the ball pretty easily.
