Canadian Samuel Piette & Portuguese Rafael Veloso are the last two additions to Fabril. Both are international players with an interesting career. The club is still searching for a striker in order to close the squad.

Deportivo announced two more signings for Fabril ahead of the season 2014/15. Centre midfielder Samuel Piette arrived on a free transfer coming from Fortuna Düsseldorf and signed a one-year deal, while goalkeeper Rafael Veloso comes loaned from C.F. Os Belenenses. It’s a one-year operation with Depor keeping a purchase option over the player.

Piette is a 19-year-old Canadian defensive midfielder that played two times with the first team of Fortuna Düsseldorf performing at the 2. Bundesliga. He was released this summer and was on trial at Racing de Ferrol. The Galician neighbors were impressed with the player and were ready to seal a three-year deal, but they didn’t match the player’s expectations and there was no deal, then Depor captured the player.

The Canadian midfielder played for the all the national youth teams in his country and took part of the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Piette already debuted with the senior squad of Canada, and curiously debuted replacing a former Depor player, Julian De Guzman, during a goalless game against the United States (June 3, 2012).

About Veloso, he’s a 20-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper that has also played for all the national youth teams in his country. He’s considered as a very promising player; in 2013 he made two appearances with the senior squad performing at the Segunda Liga in Portugal.

The idea of the club is to have Veloso as the third keeper at the first team; actually he trained with the senior squad on Tuesday before completing any training session with Depor B. He will cover any possible injury case and in the meantime will be playing at Tercera División.

With these two arrivals the squad of Depor B has 23 players, though four of them are inscribed as Juvenile players, which is necessary as at Tercera it’s only possible to inscribe 22 players (it’s only allowed to have 16 players above the 23 years). It means that there’s room to make three more signings and for now the priority is to sign a new centre forward.
