Juan Carlos and Seoane were the players out of Víctor Fernández’s plans ahead this season, but they ended staying and will probably lack minutes. It’s a situation they already lived in past opportunities.

The first team of Deportivo is now a full room as 25 players were inscribed for the first part of the season. Coach Víctor Fernández was hoping to only have 22 or 23 men, but it wasn’t possible as the club failed to complete the exits of playmaker Juan Carlos Real and right-back Diego Seoane.

Since the first weeks on the pre-season the coach talked to both players and explained the situation, but they never found the way out. Recreativo de Huelva insisted until the last minute for Juan Carlos, who was also chased by CD Lugo. In the case of Seoane, he was pretended by CD Leganés and other Segunda clubs.

But nothing was closed and now the situation is difficult for both sides. For the club as the coach will have more problems to pick Fabril’s players due to the large squad, and later for the same players as they will surely lack minutes on this season. In the case of Seoane there are other three right-backs and also two left-backs, so he will hardly play. In the case of Juan Carlos, the presence of five centre midfielders and at least three men that can perform as playmakers, represent a new obstacle in his career.

On Wednesday, Juan Carlos was interviewed by Radio Cadena Cope; he’s upset as his exit wasn’t materialized, “Víctor Fernández was very clear when he talked to me in August. I wasn’t counting to be here and knew that I wasn’t going to play on here. It was very clear.”

“It isn’t true that I didn’t want to leave. It’s a lie. I am the one losing on here. Quique Setién [CD Lugo’s coach] phoned me to explain that they couldn’t wait for me. I don’t know about the pressure over my agent, but things were complicated. Some coaches phoned me too and also a couple of sporting directors and I always said the same: I will do what the club tells me. I knew about the interest of Recre the day after the closure of the market. I only ask why it wasn’t’ closed before.” He added

The true is that both men are used to find out that the coach at the first team doesn’t count with them. Juan Carlos debuted with the first team during the Segunda season 2011/12, it was expected that former coach José Luis Oltra was going to give him more chances one year later, but the club wanted more experience at Primera and, after a chaotic deadline day in which it wasn’t possible to close his exit to SD Huesca, he stayed to find out that he was going to spend the first part of the season without having minutes in liga and Copa.

In the 2013 transfer winter window the Galician playmaker completed the move to SD Huesca and returned to become a regular participant with Fernando Vázquez during the season 2013/14, but recently he found out that he wasn’t part of the plans of new boss Víctor Fernández, so now he faces the same scenario of two years ago with the additional fact that his contract is ending in June 0f 2005. The club negotiated an extension, but until now no agreement has been reached.

Seoane is also ending his contract on next June and is even more used to be ruled out of the coaches’ plans. Even ex-Fabril coach Tito Ramallo sent him on loan to Ciudad de Santiago for the season 2007/08 after not finding a slot for him. After debuting at Primera in 2010, he never entered into the initial plans of Miguel Ángel Lotina, Oltra and Fernando Vázquez, but somehow he always found the way to end playing at the team.

The best example is what occurred on last season; Vázquez talked to the player and told him the best was go out loaned. The player refused and stayed as a substitute, in many opportunities he was even out of the list of picked players. But the exit of Culio forced the coach to advance the position of Luisinho and Seoane was going to get a spot performing at the left-back position. In the end he made 24 league appearances, his best mark ever in professional football. And now he found the same scenario with the arrival of Víctor.
