TACTICS: TIME FOR CHANGES

30 Oct 2014
Juan Dominguez could be one of the novelties ahead of the meeting against Getafe; Lucas Pérez remains doubtful and in the end the coach could end making two changes for Friday’s meeting plus switching the draw.

Coach Víctor Fernández has been using the 4-2-3-1 scheme in the last games and now could return to the 4-3-3 as Lucas Pérez remains doubtful. The Galician winger hasn’t trained on this week after picking a knock on his right knee during the game against RCD Espanyol.

He will be tested today and his inclusion in the roster for the game is doubtful, therefore it’s highly probable that he won’t be a starter against Getafe CF. It means that the coach will have to make at least one change after repeating the same starting eleven in two straight matchdays.

And the solution of the coach is to switch the draw allowing the entry of another centre midfielder. On Wednesday he tested a 4-3-3 draw with Juan Dominguez playing alongside Cezary Wilk and Haris Medunjanin at midfield. Dominguez picked a hamstring strain injury in the last training session before the derby against RC Celta (September 22) and doesn’t play since the 2-8 setback against Real Madrid (September 20).

The ex-Fabril midfielder talked to Radio Marca and commented that he’s fit to play, “I don’t have any idea of the possible lineup. First we need to be in the roster and later see if we can play. For now I’m working in order to be in the roster. I’m available since last Monday and am ready to play, but that’s the decision of the coach.”

Lucas Pérez during Tuesday's training

There could be more changes as Víctor has almost a full squad available for the meeting, during the same training session the coach initially tested with Toché performing at the centre of the attack, which moved Iván Cavaleiro to the left wing leaving Luis Fariña out of the starting eleven.

But later the Argentine playmaker was also tested as a left winger and in this second case Cavaleiro is the one ending on the bench. Víctor also tested another unusual things, like seeing Juan Carlos performing as the starting playmaker and even Diego Seoane playing as a right winger claiming the spot of Isaac Cuenca.

The final decision will be made on Thursday as the coach will release the roster for the game. What seems clear is that the defense will remain the same, the goalkeeper will continue to be Fabricio, with Juanfran and Luisinho performing on the sides, while the centre backs will be Sidnei and Insua. The only novelty in the defensive sector is that Manuel Pablo won’t be available after picking an injury on his left leg (Ischialgia)
