Injury problems at Deportivo ahead of the game against Córdoba CF; up to eight players have faced physical problems during the week. Lucas and Fariña are out of the meeting. The rival doesn’t have big casualties for Friday.

Important game for Deportivo facing Córdoba CF (Arcángel stadium, Friday, 20h45 CET). The last defeat hosting Getafe CF is leaving Depor in a complicate situation near the drop zone. The rival is desperate to get their first win in the tournament and a new setback could add more pressure to coach Víctor Fernández.

Last week it seemed the team was seeing the light in terms of the injury cases, this since Diogo Salomão was close to receive the medical okay leaving the injury room empty for the first time on the season. But now there was a radical change as seven players have faced injury problems during this week.

Three players are already ruled out of Friday’s meeting: wingers Diogo Salomão (knee) and Lucas Pérez (knee) plus playmaker Luis Fariña (stress fracture). Salomão continues to train with the group, but hasn’t received yet the medical okay to play. It’s expected he could be available after the international break.

In the case of Lucas, he has been unable to train after picking the knock on his right knee during the game against RCD Espanyol. The case of Fariña is more serious. He didn’t feel well in the first half against Getafe CF and stayed until half-time. He was replaced and the scans confirmed a grade 2 injury on the Semitendinosus muscle of his right leg. It means the Argentine man will be out for at least three weeks.

And there are more problems. Centre-back Pablo Insua hasn’t trained on this week due to a muscle problem on his right leg, an injury sustained in last Friday’s game. Then winger Isaac Cuenca (muscle), left-back Luisinho (tiredness) plus attackers Iván Cavaleiro (adductor muscle) and Toché (Soleus) have skipped one of the two first sessions on the week.

In this long list of physical problems the only player that remains doubtful for Friday is Insua, which after al is a positive thing. The other good news is that right-back Manuel Pablo (Ischialgia) is back. The veteran defender missed the game against Getafe CF for this reason and is already available.

At Córdoba CF, the team coached now by Miroslav Djukić is every day facing more pressure after spending the first ten matchdays without adding any victory. They see the game as a final as they face a direct rival for the permanence.

The only confirmed casualty for the meeting against Depor is playmaker Jose Carlos. During the summer he didn’t pass the medicals at Depor due to his knee injury, he later joined Córdoba CF and debuted on matchday 09 playing for 18 minutes against Real Sociedad.  But later was reported injured and it seems that he suffered a relapse. The Andalusian man won’t be picked for Friday’s meeting.

Meanwhile, captain Abel Gómez is doubtful for the game. The midfielder picked an adductor muscle injury during Monday’s session and is uncertain if he will be available for Friday. Finally, full-backs José Ángel Crespo and Eduard Campabadal are back into the training pitch. Both have been out due to muscle injuries and are now available for the coach.
