STATS: THE WORST START IN 44 YEARS

10 Nov 2014
This is the worst Primera start in forty-four years for RC Deportivo, even the numbers in the last two relegations were slightly better. The Galicians only spent one week in relegation thanks to the poor performance of the rivals.

Deportivo have only added nine points after the first eleven matchdays at Liga BBVA 2014/15 (2 victories, 3 draws and 6 defeats). The mark is slightly worse than the ones had in the previous two seasons of the team competing at the elite.

During the campaign 2012/13, the Depor of José Luis Oltra had added ten points after the first eleven meetings (2 victories, 3 draws and 5 defeats). Two years before, during the season 2011/12, the team coached by Miguel Ángel Lotina added 11 points in the first 11 games (2 victories, 5 draws and 4 defeats).

The season 1991/92 marked the return of Depor to Primera after a long time (19 years) and the mark was the same than the current one, though in that opportunity the goal difference was -8 while in the current tournament it is -9.

So, in order to find a worse start than the current one it is necessary to go back to the season 1966/67. At the time the team coached by Enrique Orizaola had a mark of only one victory, two draws and eight defeats. On that campaign the team ended as the bottom club and suffered the relegation to Segunda.

Despite the current poor mark the Deportivo of Víctor Fernández have only spent one matchday in relegation (last place in matchday 07), this since the direct rivals are also having poor starts in this tournament, as example Córdoba CF, the first winless team in six years after the first eleven matchdays.
