JOSÉ RODRIGUEZ: “I’M A LITTLE SAD”

11 Nov 2014
The midfielder is surprised as the coach hasn’t trusted him in recent games; he talked to reporters and said that will try to improve during the trainings in order to gain new opportunities on the pitch.

Midfielder José Rodríguez is surprised for his lack of minutes in recent games. He was a starter in the first two games on the season and played in four of the first four league latches, but recently got out of the plans of coach Víctor Fernández. Actually, he wasn’t picked for the meeting against Getafe CF and against Córdoba only played 26 minutes as a substitute.

Before last Friday’s game the coach tried to explain why he disappeared from the roster against Getafe CF, “The matter isn’t if a player is disappearing or not, the matter is to assess the performance. The disappearance is according to the performance, it is not a magic trick. The ones having a good performance stay, the ones lowering the level are going out. Normally there are others knocking at the door. That’s professional football. It happens with all, from Manuel Pablo at his 38 or with him [José Rodríguez] at his 19. It is like that.”

On Monday the Villajoyosa-born player addressed the media and confessed that he feels a little sad, “I am not disappointed, but feeling a little sad, because I’m young and need minutes in order to be better at the end of the season. In a personal sense I am not totally happy as I will love to have more minutes. At the beginning of the season I was surprised, because I had many minutes and now I’m surprised for not playing too often.”

“I’m very happy in the city and with the team mates, who are spectacular. The problem is that I am not having too many minutes lately, but will try to earn more chances on the field, which is where it matters. I was surprised for not been called up for the game against Getafe as I was playing in the first games on the season and in other meetings I came out in the second half, so it was surprising to not been part of the roster.”

Finally, Rodríguez talked of what to expect from the next game against Real Sociedad, “Real made a great season last year. This year things aren’t too well, but have a good team with good players, so they are coming at the top and surely they will be saved without facing any problem. We must win the game in any possible way, because we cannot drop more points at home.”
