ANDRADE IS NEAR TO RETURN

06 Oct 2006
Jorge Andrade is in the way back to the squad, the Portuguese defender even said that he could be ready to play during the next week's friendly match. But some rumours are appointing that president Lendoiro could be thinking in selling the player during the winter market, a fact that Andrade himself sees as a possible option.

Defender Jorge Andrade is anxious to return. At the beginning of the year he suffered a serious knee injury that left him out from the World Cup and from la liga competition. It was the second case that he suffered since his arrival to Depor, during his first campaign in the squad (2002/2003), he broke his foot in the first liga confrontation against Betis and missed the half of that season.

Now the Portuguese player is in the final phase of his recuperation process, Andrade started to work with the rest of the squad during last week, although he isn't working yet with the ball. But the defender is optimistic as he told to reporters: "I believe that in one week, I will be ready to play with the team in the midweek friendlies. I am wishing to gain some rhythm and been able to reach the level of my team mates."

But the speculation about his possible exit during the winter market has just started to appear in the papers. Newspaper El Ideal Gallego wrote a couple of days ago that president Lendoiro has started to negotiate with Real Madrid for the Portuguese defender, the same source claims that the Galician club is wishing to recollect €15 million in the operation. Depor paid €12 million to Porto in order to sign Andrade, the operation would also help the club to recuperate the investment made during the summer market (€8.94 million).

Andrade knows that this operation could be a economic solution for Depor, but he prefers to concentrate his efforts in his comeback: "It's true that the club could obtain an important benefit with this transfer, but I can only say that I am really happy in Deportivo. Right now I can only think in my recuperation and in returning to the pitch, I am sure that if I achieve that, interesting offers might come later."
