TABORDA TALKS ABOUT DEPOR'S SYSTEM

07 Oct 2006
Sebasti??n Taborda talked yesterday about the situation of the strikers in the team. He scored a hattrick in Thursday's friendly game and seems totally recuperated from his muscular problems. The Uruguayan player believes that the system of only one striker in the lineup, is the main reason why Depor suffers in order to score the desired goals.

Taborda gave his opinion about the situation of the strikers in the squad, for him their work has been criticised without a solid reason: "They say that the striker isn't generating too many occasions, but other things are the ones failing here. If we were enjoying ten occasions per game and the strikers were failing those occasions, it's fine. But today we are only enjoying three chances per match, if we are lucky, we could fulfil them at 100%."

The Uruguayan player also has an explanation for this situation: "The system of only using one striker is a thing affecting the performance of the same strikers. The problem is that we are missing the presence of somebody else upfront. For this reason, the midfielders are the ones enjoying more occasions to score. When I am on the field, the tactic should change, it can't be the same used when Estoyanoff and Cristian are on too."

One of the things that was emphasised as a strong characteristic in Taborda  is the aerial game, however; he doesn't believe that this kind of action is the solution to Depor's problems: "Nobody wants more than I do to see the squad scoring goals. But a 60-meters pass is complicated, unless that the keeper is tied to the post. We have to search for a solution, because obviously I am not the type of player that will go to midfield and elude eleven rivals to score a goal."

Taborda also believes that the team is still trying to find a replacement for Valer??n: "His injury changed things, we have seen several team mates with different characteristics trying to replace him, but we haven't been able to do it. The team must try to improve the situation"
