Albert Lopo will be available for the game against Athletic, it means great news as Sidnei is suspended. The coach has tested different variations in the first lineup of the year, but no big surprises are expected.

Coach Víctor Fernández has been boosted with the return of Albert Lopo. The Catalan defender was dragging a muscle injury, problem that sidelined from the last raining in 2014, but he was back on Thursday, though the session was short and without a big physical charge. Still, he should be available for Saturday’s clash against Athletic Club.

It means great news for Víctor, because Brazilian Sidnei Rechel is suspended and the ex-Espanyol defender and Galician Pablo Insua are the only natural centre-backs available for the first meeting in 2015.

It’s highly probable that Fernández will play with a 4-2-3-1 figure, but several positions are unclear. During the week the coach made tests mixing normal starters with substitutes. As example Álex Bergantiños was tested as a centre-back, while Diego Seoane tried as a right winger.

Juan Carlos and Luis Fariña were tested in the playmaking function and also on the left wing. Juan Dominguez was a starter against Villarreal CF, but during the week the coach wasn’t happy with his passes during the sessions.

Meanwhile, Víctor has been pretty content with the work done by Toché during the trainings and the Murcian should be again the starting striker. Haris Medunjanin should be regaining a place at the starting eleven after been a substitute against Villarreal. The coach also praised the work done by Diogo Salomão, though the Portuguese winger will hardly be a starter as he’s just returning after a long absence.
