Lucas Pérez won’t be available for the visit to Athletic Club. The winger/playmaker has barely played after sustained four injuries, the latest was a weird knee injury that has kept him sidelined for two months.

Coach Víctor Fernández labeled him as one of the most important players at the squad, but Lucas Pérez only managed to perform for 76 minutes in the sixteen matches played in the league season. The reasons that forced him to step out have been four different injuries.

First to all an ankle sprain suffered the first day he trained with the team (July), for this reason he missed the Colombian tour during the pre-season. Then, during the pre-season stage, he only played 29 minutes in a friendly match as two quadriceps injuries affected him.

Then there was a grade one muscle injury on the quadriceps muscle of his left leg, problem that not only sidelined him for the last stretch on the pre-season, but also for the first seven meetings in la liga. He finally had the chance to debut on matchday 08 as Depor were hosting Valencia CF, match in which he even scored a goal.

The fans finally noticed his skills, but the misfortune returned at the end of October as the Galician player only lasted eighteen minutes on the pitch during the game visiting RCD Espanyol, this after collecting a knee knock.

The scans only confirmed a concussion, a minor problem, but it was strong enough to keep him at bay for the last two months in 2014. It was reported that the player was going to rest until the first week in 2015, in the meantime he visited a specialist in Barcelona. The problem is that the concussion affected a sensitive region in the knee, so he feels issues at the moment of playing.

And the new year didn’t bring a change for Lucas Pérez, because he has spent sidelined the first week of trainings after the Christmas break, so he’s missing the first game in 2015 against Athletic Club. For now Deportivo aren’t reporting a date for his possible comeback.
