MISSING A TOP-SCORER

14 Jan 2015
The best scorer at Deportivo after 18 matchdays has only scored two goals. It’s the lowest mark among the twenty clubs at Primera. The last time this happened at Depor was during the campaign 2009/10.

Deportivo represent the only Primera club in which no one has scored more than two goals after the first 18 matchdays. Four players have netted two goals so far: Iván Cavaleiro, Toché, Isaac Cuenca and Haris Medunjanin.

The last time this situation was seen at Deportivo during a Primera tournament was during the season 2009/10. At the time there were also four players with two goals after the first 18 matchdays: Filipe Luis, Diego Colotto, Riki and Juca.

Curiously, three of those players (Filipe, Juca and Colotto) scored their third goal on the season during matchday 19, the last one in the first round, which was a 3-1 victory over Athletic Club at the Riazor. Never before Depor have ended a first round at Primera División with the best scorer only having two goals in favour.

What has happened is that the goals are concentrated in a larger number of players. So far 9 of the 25 players at the first team have at least scored once. It’s the best mark among the last six places at the standings: Levante UD (8), Córdoba CF (8), UD Almeria (7), Granada CF (7) & Elche CF (6)
