The coach and the players of Deportivo admitted that Barcelona was the superior side in the last game of the first round. Víctor is aware of the possible signing of Hélder Costa and explained the skills of the playmaker/winger.

Coach Víctor Fernández was trying to obtain a positive reading from the game and assured that Depor had dignity, “We won’t discover Barcelona at this moment. It’s a team that, if their players are plugged and having pace, then are unstoppable, something that was demonstrated on last weekend after scoring three times against Atlético. They try to play faster and have Messi, so they have everything. We competed with dignity. The group never fell down despite the strong hit after they had a goal in favour in just ten minutes, something that broke a little our planning.”

“The important thing is that the team was able to stand up for the full ninety minutes. We also had our opportunities and at some point discussed the ball possession to Barca. I don’t like the 0-4, because I think the result could have been shorter. But now we must turn the page and think of Sunday’s game against Granada.” He added.

The Zaragoza-born coach was praising the level of Barcelona, “If you loot to the aggressiveness against Atlético Madrid and the one had in recent away games, then you could think it was a different team. It’s a team that has gained a point of intensity. Damn, the same ones that played against Atlético Madrid played again today. Now even their cousin rested! It’s a Barca that, if they are plugged, can harm you a lot and if besides their star is on, then it’s difficult.”

He didn’t want to analyze the performance of the three midfielders for this game, “This is the third match in which they play together. I think the first took place a while ago. In Eibar, a match in which we won. We cannot think of an individual analysis for the rival that we faced. Everybody gave their best and no one surrendered. “

Depor’s coach emphasized the good news for the return of Lucas Pérez and also that the injury of Cavaleiro isn’t serious, “It was for fifteen minutes and he [Lucas] didn’t have any issue. He had to throw a corner-kick, which is what makes him been more fearful and he did it without problems. He has to improve. In the case of Cavaleiro, the doctors tranquilized me as they believe that he isn’t broken. It’s a problem in the adductor and we will also recover Fariña, so we are on the right track.”

Finally, Víctor didn’t want to confirm the possible arrival of Hélder Costa, but he’s aware of the player’s skills, “The club is trying and if someone comes then it is the place that we have to cover. The market isn’t easy and we must allow an exit. I don’t know anything about his arrival [he said with a smile on his face]. I know him perfectly. He can perform on both wings, he’s fast and is good shooting on target. He’s young and has a solid career as an amateur.”

Haris Medunjanin was remembering that this was a difficult task for Deportivo, “Barcelona are at a different level. You know, they aren’t only one player, but eighteen. It’s difficult to stop them and also have the best player in the world.”

The Bosnian explained that his role at the team was changed for the second half, “Yes, I had to go out in order to put pressure over Busquets. His output of the ball wasn’t as easy as it was in the first part. I believe we had our chances, but it’s difficult against Barca. Still, as I said before, Barca are at another level.”

Lucas Pérez returned after three months ago and said that he was feeling fine, “There is no pain and neither any issue. But I cannot say that I won’t feel it again. My goal is to not feel it again and I want to continue playing and want to move forward.”

Oriol Riera played his first game as a starter; he recognized that Barcelona was the best side on the pitch, “I believe there was the doubt of what kind of Barca we were going to meet. And it wasn’t the Barca of two weeks ago, but the Barca of this week facing Atlético Madrid. An ambitious Barca that was a steamroller and they clinched the victory. We know that it was difficult as we were facing the best team in the world.”

The Catalan attacker also recognized that it wasn’t easy to perform backwards the goal in the major part of the meeting, “It’s not the proper role for a striker, but you have to try to support the partners. The true is that it wasn’t the best debut at the Riazor, but we tried to do our best and now will try to have a batter performance in the next game.”

Fabricio was sad for allowing four goals, “Today it was hard and it was painful to allow four goals, but we were aware of the difficulty of the game. They were effective and neither we were as good as we wanted. We can only congratulate the rival and to think of Granada.”

The Canarian goalie also said that a hard way is expecting for Depor in the second round, “We know the importance in this start of the second round, especially facing teams that are the same zone. We are aware of the difficulty in the second round and also that we have to add a lot of points.”

At FC Barcelona, coach Luis Enrique was content as his team was creating scoring opportunities, “The improvement was in the fact that we have created danger before the rival and avoided any transition, which forces the rival to be focused in defending, because we have intensity at the moment of defending.”

He was also praising the level of Messi, the scorer of the hat-trick, “He has been in a high level all season long; he’s a crack. I haven’t see him lowering his level at any time. You have good, bad and regular games throughout the season, and it’s harder playing outside home, so the victories are the best incentive.”

Andrés Iniesta was talking of the importance of this victory, “It was important to keep winning, to add the three points and we did it. Now it’s time to recover and prepare Wednesday’s game. We will like to be one step upwards, but the readings aren’t bad. The team needs to keep growing as the most important things are about to come.”
