Four casualties at Depor ahead of Friday’s game. Sidnei is practically out, while Fariña, José Fernández and Postiga are already out of the meeting. Eibar are facing problems at the sides of the defense, while Manu Del Moral is out injured.

The first team of Deportivo is once again composed by 26 players, this after the incorporation of Borja López, the last signing that joined the group on Monday. The centre-back has big options of been included in the roster for the next game due to the casualties at the squad.

Ahead of the clash against SD Eibar (Riazor, Friday, 20h45 CET), coach Víctor Fernández has three confirmed casualties: striker Hélder Postiga, centre midfielder José Rodríguez and playmaker Luis Fariña, while there are high options that centre-back Sidnei Rechel is going to miss the clash.

Postiga is still evolving from his groin surgery. On Wednesday he was working apart, which means a new step forward after been working at the gym during the past week. He might join the group on next week. Meanwhile Fariña, who is still pending to fulfill one game in his two-match suspension, ended at the hospital.

The Argentine man has cellulitis, which is a skin infection that was acquired through a wound on his right foot. This wound was produced during the game against Granada, meeting in which he was sent off. He was treated with antibiotics, but didn’t respond to the treatment and the doctors decided that the best thing was to visit the hospital, this in order to make tests and determine the exact bacteria that caused the infection, which will help to determine the precise antibiotic that should be used.

Fariña spent five days at the hospital and was discharged on Wednesday. The doctors expect that he will remain off for another two weeks, because the wound on the foot need to heal before giving him the green light to play. This means that the playmaker will also miss the games against Real Madrid and RC Celta.

In the case of Sidnei, the centre-back sustained a Soleus injury on his left thigh during the game against Rayo Vallecano, reason why he had to be replaced at the last minute. It was expected that he was going to be fit to play, but on Wednesday he was training apart together with Postiga and it’s highly probable that he will miss Friday’s game.

Albert Lopo had flue at the beginning of the week, but he’s already recovered. Still, the absence of Sidnei will open the doors to Pablo Insua and also to Borja López, who might have minutes despite he will only complete four training sessions before the game.

Finally, centre midfielder José Rodríguez is suspended after picking the fifth yellow card on the season during the game against Rayo Vallecano. He will also miss the game against Real Madrid as the latter is his parent club, so the player, who has been performing as a right winger, will be out of action for a fortnight.

This last casualty is opening the doors to Hélder Costa, the Portuguese hasn’t been included in the roster of the last two games after arriving on January 23 and could be part of the list for the first time going directly into the starting eleven.

During the week Víctor conceded an interview to La Opinión A Coruña and said that it isn’t a good choice to replace the suspended player with another midfielder, therefore the main alternatives are Costa and Diogo Salomão, the latter has less options after been dragging issues on the knee recently. Another option could be to move Oriol Riera into the right wing and then allow the entry of Toché as the centre forward.

There are a lot of novelties at SD Eibar, coach Gaizka Garitano will miss three players for Friday’s game. Left-backs Abraham Minero and Manuel Castellano ‘Lillo’ picked their fifth yellow card on the season in the past game against Atlético Madrid, so both are suspended. Then striker Manu del Moral suffered a face fracture in the same game and won’t be available.

The three absences are hurting the plans of Garitano, in the case of Del Moral lately he has been the starting right winger and is the third best scorer at the team with three goals netted so far. The absence of the full-backs are sensitive as the coach is lacking players for the sides, especially since right-back Eneko Bóveda is doubtful with an adductor muscle injury. Actually in the game at the Calderón stadium Lillo had to play at the right side of the defence.

At the same time centre midfielder Dani García, their second player with more minutes in liga, is returning from a suspension, while the two winter signings are available: ex-Depor midfielder Borja Fernández and centre-back Rafa Paz, who is coming loaned from Liverpool FC in order to cover the departure of Raúl Albentosa.
