DEPORTIVO IN MARCH

04 Mar 2015
Three liga meetings for Deportivo in March. It’s a difficult month as the Galician team faces three rivals living among the first part of the standings. The quest for the permanence continues.

March is going to be a difficult month for Deportivo. There are only three games because the last week in the month is reserved for the national teams. Still, the three rivals are currently lying among the first nine positions, so Depor will have to fight hard in order to add points in the quest for the permanence.

The month starts with the visit of Sevilla CF to the Riazor. It’s a tough rival despite the Andalusians only added one of the last six points in dispute, reason why they are now seven points away from the Champions League places. The situation in la liga is forcing coach Unai Emery to use the usual starters despite that on next Thursday they face Villarreal CF in the first-leg of UEFA Europa League round of 16.

The last five official game of Sevilla:

Matchday 23 SEVILLA 3 CORDOBA 0
UEFA EL SEVILLA 1 BORUSSIA MONCH 0
Matchday 24 REAL SOCIEDAD 4 SEVILLA 3
UEFA EL BORUSSIA MONCH 2 SEVILLA 3
Matchday 25 SEVILLA 0 ATLETICO 0

Then Deportivo visit the other team battling for the fourth and last place at the Champions League: Valencia CF. Los Chés are currently on fire after clinching four wins in a row in liga, besides the fact of not playing any other competition (already eliminated in Copa) allows them to face the domestic competition with a fresh squad.

The last five official games of Valencia:

Matchday 22 ESPANYOL 1 VALENCIA 2
Matchday 23 VALENCIA 1 GETAFE 0

March ends for Deportivo with the visit of RCD Espanyol to the Riazor. The Catalans are currently in nowhere’s land: ten points above relegation and at the same time thirteen points under the European places. For now their goal is to achieve the permanence, though they are also thinking of the Copa Del Rey as currently they are facing Athletic Club in one of the semifinals.
