THINKING OF SEVILLA CF

05 Mar 2015
Deportivo will at least have two casualties for Saturday’s game. Salomão and Cavaleiro remain doubtful, but already train with the group. The rival is having many problems with the injuries.

Big game for Depor as Sevilla CF visit the Riazor this Saturday (16h00 CET). Coach Víctor Fernández is having two confirmed casualties for the game: strikers Hélder Postiga and Toché.

The Portuguese striker underwent a new surgery on last week as his lumbago problem was causing a lot of pain. He has spent the week at his home in A Coruña and it still to be determined if he will be able to play again in the rest of this season.

In the case of the Murcian attacker, he’s on the last phase of his recovery process from a hamstring injury. He could join the trainings with the group at the end of this week or at the beginning of the next one, so the ex- Panathinaikos man could be available for the visit to Valencia CF.

Meanwhile, there are two players that are doubtful: left winger Diogo Salomão (Soleus) and attacker Iván Cavaleiro (ankle). Both started the week training apart and joining the group on Wednesday, but their participation in Saturday’s game isn’t confirmed yet as they haven’t received the medical okay to play. Cavaleiro has the bigger options as the last scans revealed that his injury isn’t serious.

During the weekend newspaper La Voz de Galicia reported that centre-back Albert Lopo was dragging a muscle injury on his right leg that could sideline him for three weeks, but the player has trained with the group during this week and is fit to play. The Catalan skipped the game with UD Almeria due to suspension and is now available for the coach.

One of the novelties during the week was to see Juvenil A goalkeeper Javier Ortega training with the first team. He was signed during the winter window coming from Villarreal CF after Anxo Pérez got injured.

At Sevilla CF, the Andalusians are reaching the peak on the season, with the fight for the fourth place still on and the continuity in the Europa League (they face Villarreal CF starting on next midweek), but facing problems due to the latest injury cases that have been hitting all the lines at the team. At times they had up to six casualties for the games, for the past match against Atlético Madrid they were missing five players, number that can be repeated for the game at the Riazor.

For now there are three confirmed casualties ahead of the meeting against Depor, the last case is centre-back Daniel Carriço, who was a last minute casualty before Atlético. The scans confirmed a muscle injury that will sideline the Portuguese for two weeks.

The other two absentees are midfielder Sebastián Cristóforo and goalkeeper Beto. Uruguayan Cristóforo is out for the rest of the season due to a knee ligaments injury, while keeper Beto will return until the end of the month due to a shoulder problem.

Other two players are doubtful for Saturday: striker Iago Aspas (hamstring) and midfielder Nico Pareja (Soleus). Both players have been training apart and their status will be assessed until the end of the week.
