Deportivo lost Wilk during the week, but the rest of the squad, with the exception of Postiga, will be available for the important game against RCD Espanyol. The Catalans arrive to the game without major concerns after a solid season.

Not a normal week in A Coruña, first to all the team will wait nine days to play again after the last league encounter took place on last Friday. Secondly for the meaning of the upcoming clash against RCD Espanyol (Riazor, Sunday, 12h00 CET).

Depor have failed to win their last five games in liga and are now at the edge of relegation, so it’s highly important to win this match and everybody knows it, including the club’s officials, who gathered the team on Tuesday in order to have a meal and start the physiological process to prepare the game.

The coaching staff is also taking measures ahead of the game, now only with the routines during the trainings, but also with the place for the sessions. Coach Víctor Fernández is also boosted by the fact that Toché already surpassed his hamstring injury and received the medical okay to play on Saturday. In this way the coach finally has two natural centre forwards available.

The negative news was the toe fracture suffered by Cezary Wilk during Wednesday’s session. The Polish midfielder will miss the rest of the season as he needs a surgery and a two-month recovery process. The other player out of the game is Hélder Postiga, who is still recovering from a back surgery.

Other two players were dragging physical problems: centre-backs Iago Lopez and Sidnei Rechel. The loanee from AS Monaco has a knee problem and has been wearing a protection similar to the one of Lucas Pérez, while the Brazilian suffered a blow in the face during Wednesday’s session. But both players should be available for Sunday.

There was also time to see Fabril’s youngsters training with the team. On Wednesday midfielder Álvaro Queijeiro was invited to work with the team, while one day before the coaching staff worked the output of the ball by the goalkeepers and for the occasion Fabril’s David Gómez and Juvenil A Javier Ortega were invited.

At RCD Espanyol, the team coached by ex-Depor Sergio González is living a peaceful situation, far from the European places but also of relegation. So, their current scenario is totally opposed to the one lived in A Coruña. The match isn’t calling too much attention as the fans are more concern of the probable squad for next season and if the coach will continue on his job.

There are three players doubtful for the game. Midfielder Abraham ended at the hospital during the weekend after been hit in the face during the game against Atlético. He joined the trainings on Wednesday, but not at the same pace that the rest of the players.

Meanwhile, attackers Sergio García and Lucas Vázquez have been sidelined all week long dragging knocks from the game against Atlético. The media believe that the duo will be available for Sunday. Sergio Garcia is one of the two top-scorers at the team after scoring nine goals and providing six assists in the league season.
