Luis Fariña is set to return into the starting lineup ahead of the meeting against RCD Espanyol. The Argentine man has only been a starter once in 2015 after been suspended for two weeks plus suffering an infection that sidelined him for a month.

Víctor Fernández is aware that his Deportivo need to return to winning ways after only adding one point within the last five games, but he isn’t preparing big changes at the lineup ahead of the important meeting. During the week he didn’t test a fixed formation, but three teams with variants, always keeping the 4-2-3-1 figure.

The main novelty in the three draws was to see Luis Fariña on. He was performing either on the right wing or in the playmaking function switching the positon with Lucas Pérez, while the left flank was always for Iván Cavaleiro.

Fariña was always pointed by the coach as one of the two “special” players at his squad, but only once the Argentine was a starter in 2015. It was for the 1-0 home win over Athletic Club back in January (matchday 17). Since then he has only played 102 minutes in la liga.

What happened is that the Argentine was sent off in the home clash with Granada CF and served a two-match suspension, and just when the club was trying to appeal the decision, the playmaker got a skin infection that sent him to the hospital. Now he’s almost totally fit to play and the coach is once again thinking of him.

The biggest doubt for the game is who will join Sidnei Rechel at the centre of the defense. During Wednesday the coach tested with the options of Pablo Insua and Albert Lopo, though lately the coach has always chose the Catalan veteran when he has been available.

The rest of the team should be the same one of the past meeting that lost at Mestalla, though the coach has made some additional tests, like playing during the training match with Juan Dominguez joining Celso Borges at midfield.

It’s expected that striker Toché will be recalled after surpassing his hamstring injury, but Catalan Oriol Riera will stay at the starting formation despite he left the pitch angered for been replaced at Mestalla.
