TRAINING WEEK

28 Mar 2015
Deportivo completed three trainings and one friendly game during the international break. Wilk was operated from his toe fracture, while Postiga returned to the training pitch. Salomão was ruled out for a month.

The international break arrived with the concerns regarding the situation of Deportivo after spending six straight games without adding the three points. The coaching staff only scheduled three sessions during the week (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), though the sessions were intense (one and a half hours on the pitch).

There was also time to play a friendly game on Wednesday visiting Tercera club SD Órdenes, match that was won by Depor with a 0-2 score thanks to the goals scored by centre-back Borja López and Fabril’s winger Miguel Cardoso.

During the week Depor’s first team had four players out due to the call by their national teams: centre midfielders Haris Medunjanin (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Celso Borges (Costa Rica) and José Rodríguez (U-21 Spain) plus attacker Iván Cavaleiro (U-21 Portugal).

Despite there were no official games during the week, there were news related to the players. Striker Hélder Postiga returned to Abegondo and started to make some routines in the gym, but it still uncertain if he will be available before ending the season. He needed a second surgery in order to fix a Lumbago problem.

Meanwhile, Cezary Wilk was operated from a toe fracture suffered at the beginning of the week; he was already released from hospital. The club informed that the Polish midfielder will remain sidelined for ten weeks, which means he won’t play anymore this season as the league tournament ends in May.

The bad news of the week is that Diogo Salomão sustained thigh injury on his right leg during the game against RCD Espanyol. The scans confirmed a muscle strain on the Soleus muscle, very similar problem to the one had three months ago. The Portuguese will be out for a month and is also doubtful for the rest of the season as this is a recurrent problem.

Other two players are dragging problems: winger Isaac Cuenca (thigh concussion) and centre-back Albert Lopo (muscle injury). Both didn’t train on Thursday and Friday, but should be available for Monday, day in which the tram resumes the trainings. In the case of Lopo he is suspended for the game against Getafe CF.

Three Fabril’s players had participation with the first team during the week: goalkeeper David Gómez, centre midfielder Álvaro Queijeiro and winger Miguel Cardoso. The trio played the friendly game against SD Órdenes and was also present during Thursday’s session. In the case of the keeper he always works with Manu Sotelo and the keepers from the first team.
