Víctor Sánchez is searching for a playing style, not precisely the best moment to do it as Depor face the decisive stage of the season in the quest for the permanence. He admitted the possibility of using a 4-4-2 system.

First full week for new coach Víctor Sánchez directing the trainings of Deportivo. For the moment his landmark is the fact of having long training sessions, normally two and a half hours, mainly as the players have been watching videos of themselves and of the rivals. The physical demand of the sessions is also higher compared to the stage with Víctor Fernández.

During an interview with La Opinión A Coruña the Madrilenian coach was talking of the need to improve the team with the little time they have to adjust some things, ”The week has a structuring of physical charges individual work, tasks... you cannot work with everything. We are aware of this because in the situation where we are we need to adjust. You cannot do in three days the work of a full year. You have to go slowly but considering we need to have an emergency plan to revive this group.”

About tactics, the new Víctor hasn’t showed his cards yet. For now he just give continuity to the 4-2-3-1 for the past game against Real Sociedad. During the week he was asked about his disposition to play with a 4-4-2 draw and he admitted the possibility to play with this draw.

”From midfield to attack we have a lot of players to perform at the centre. I cannot rule out the option of the 4-4-2. I like to have a base, but I understand that the systems must be flexible due to the dynamism of the match, but I cannot rule out the option of using this system from the start. In Anoeta we already played with two strikers in a phase in the game that we considered was interesting. I love the possibility and it’s one of the variables that we are going to have.” He told during an interview with newspaper La Voz de Galicia.

So, the coach needs to find a system and polish the defects of the team and with only seven matchdays ahead, remembering that in two weeks the team will play three matches in a matter of eight days. As he admitted there a lot of things to do, but only a few days to do it.

On this week the coach hasn’t tested any specific formation for the game against Atlético Madrid, he will make the tests on Friday as the team will train behind closed doors at the Riazor. At least one change in needed as Celso Borges is suspended. It’s expected that Haris Medunjanin will take the spot at midfield.

Besides, it’s still pending to see if Manuel Pablo will stay in the formation as Luisinho returns from suspension, while the fact that Diogo Salomão and Hélder Postiga have both received the medical okay increase the options in case the coach wants to play with a 4-4-2.
