Only ten of the twenty-six players that ended the season with Deportivo are called to take part of the next season in la liga. The club is open to negotiate the extension of some of the loanees.

The season 2015/16 started yesterday at Deportivo as coach Víctor Sánchez begun to discuss with the sporting direction the composition of the new team. They are starting with a small base as only ten players are currently under contract.

Five men are ending their deals in 2016: right-backs Laureano Sanabria ‘Laure’ and Diego Seoane, centre-back Albert Lopo, centre midfielder Álex Bergantiños plus goalkeeper Fabricio Agosto, the latter is currently undergoing renewal talks with the club and was also mentioned as a possible target of the Premier League.

There are two special cases. Juan Dominguez enters this short list of ten men; he hasn’t signed the new contract (his current deal ends in June), but already admitted in public that he has a verbal agreement that should be ratified in the coming weeks.  The other case is centre midfielder Celso Borges, since Deportivo clinched the permanence the club will now execute the buyout option and the player will sign a two-year contract.

Then other three players are ending their link with Depor in 2017: centre-back Pablo Insua, centre midfielder Haris Medunjanin and left-back Luisinho, the latter signed a contract extension in December.

Víctor said on Monday that he will like a short squad for next season, so the other spots will have to be covered with new faces. Also, the club is highly interested in negotiating the continuity of three of the loanees: playmaker Lucas Pérez, centre-back Sidnei Rechel and striker Iván Cavaleiro.

In the case of Lucas, the club has a buyout option over the player (rumored to be €2.5 million). The case with Sidnei will be difficult as the Brazilian is ending contract with SL Benfica, while the case of Cavaleiro is easier, though the player said good-bye to the fans on his Facebook page.
