PLAYER OF THE SEASON 2014/15: FABRICIO

30 May 2015
The peña members of RCDLC.com have chosen Fabricio Agosto as the best player of the season; deserved reward for a keeper that started the season on the bench, and that ended as one of the saviors that made possible the permanence.

Fabricio Agosto is the player of the season 2014/15, a campaign that had a happy ending despite all the suffering. The Canarian keeper returned in the previous season to Deportivo and did it to be the second goalie behind German Lux.

He only played six times at Liga Adelante and started this season again as the second keeper. Lux was the starting choice within the first eight matches, but a series of bad results, including a 2-8 Vs. Real Madrid and a 1-4 Vs. Sevilla CF, moved coach Víctor Fernández to make changes.

One of the changes was to see Fabricio debuting as a starter on October 19, 2014 with Deportivo hosting Valencia CF at the Riazor. Since that day the Canarian was the starting choice and become vital to clinch the permanence.

Save after save, the goalkeeper signed initially from UD Vecindario in 2005, increased his “legend” at the team. Among his best games was the visit to Córdoba CF (November 07, 2014), match in which he made six saves (the highest in a single game on this season) including to block a penalty and see Depor grabbing a point despite playing with ten men for an hour.

Fabricio ended the season as the ninth keeper with more saves in la liga (78). The department was led by RCD Espanyol’s Kiko Casilla (92). To have in mind that he only played 32 games on the season, and among the top list of saves only Elche’s Diego Mariño made more saves playing the same number of matches (86).

The peña members of RCDLC.com were always convinced with the performance of Fabricio, the proof is that he was named the best player in four different months, including the last three in the season (November, March, April & May).

Fabricio is the third keeper that earns the player of the season award. Previously Israeli Dudu Aouate did it for the season 2006/07, and more recently Daniel Aranzubia did it twice for the campaigns 2008/09 and 2009/10.
