NEW CONTRACT FOR LOPO

21 Jun 2015
Albert Lopo has signed a new contract lasting until 2017 though conditioned to some clauses. The Catalan is about to start his seventh season at Deportivo been a fixed starter for coach Víctor Sánchez.

Deportivo announced on Saturday that Albert Lopo has signed a contract extension lasting until 2017. The previous contract of the Catalan defender was lasting until 2016 and was renewed for one more year, though the club informed that it will be conditioned to some “sporting variables”. These variables weren’t specified by the club.

Lopo ended the season 2014/15 as a normal starter for at the centre of the defence coach Víctor Sánchez. He returned to the club one year before and helped to clinch the promotion to Primera. In this way the Catalan defender, who is 35, could end completing nine season with Depor separated in two different stages.

He struggled, like almost the rest of the team, during the campaign that just ended, but improved in the last stretch, to the point of scoring twice within the last three liga games and both goals (against Athletic Club and Levante UD) were crucial to achieve the permanence.
