Miguel Cardoso is training with the first team during the pre-season and hopes to earn a spot ahead of the next liga season. For now the Portuguese is one of the few wingers training with the team.

The pre-season is an important exam for some players at the training camp of Deportivo, one of them is Miguel Cardoso. The 20-year-old winger spent two years at Depor B and presented important numbers to become the main reference in attack (19 goals and 11 assists in 49 matches).

On March 31, the Portuguese player signed a two-year renewal with an option of three additional seasons; the important thing is that it is a professional contract, so he is no longer part of the academy but a first team member.

His advantage is that, for now, coach Víctor Sánchez, only has Luis Alberto as a possible option for the wings, so he and Óscar García from Juvenil A will have minutes in the first friendly games and will try to take advantage of the situation. But it doesn’t mean that Cardoso will stay ahead of next season, because he still has to convince the coach, that’s why the pre-season stage is so important to him. If the player is unable to convince the coach then he will go out loaned.

On Friday, Cardoso told to reporters that his big dream is to debut with Deportivo at Primera División, “I’m hopeful of staying at this team and been able to grow.  It’s the dream that I have: to debut with Deportivo at Primera División. The hopes are high. I am here in order to learn. I am coming from the B squad and I’m here in order to work alongside them; they are really helpful.”

The Portuguese also stated that he feels fine in A Coruña, “I’m adapted to everything: to the club and the people. I love the city and don’t have any problem. My personal goal is to stay here. I’m here in order to work and the only thing in my mind is to stay here. I’m focusing in staying here, but if I have to leave then it is what it is.” Finally, Cardoso hopes to continue with the “tradition” of Portuguese wingers like Salomão and Bruno Gama, “They did a great job on here and I want to continue with that. I want to work and succeed on here.”
