The second stage of the pre-season ended on Friday; physically it is the most demanding stage on the pre-season. The stage in Guitiriz witnessed the first injury cases. The third stage begins on Monday.

The pre-season of Deportivo is evolving. The second stage ended on Friday after Deportivo played the third friendly game. This stage was characterized by the concentration in hotel Guitiriz, with the team completing two training sessions per day.

As it was common in this stage the morning sessions were tactical trainings at Abegondo, while the second sessions were physical trainings at the hotel. On Monday and Tuesday the first team trained tactics and the movement of the ball at Abegondo, while in the afternoon the players completed a series of physical exercises at the golf course in Guitiriz.

On Wednesday the team trained the set-pieces at Abegondo and in the afternoon played the friendly game against Racing de Ferrol (3-1 win). For Thursday the squad played trained at the gym at Abegondo and also made some tactical exercises on the pitch, while in the afternoon there was relaxation session in Guitiriz, which included a barbecue. This was the last session in the hotel.

The training on Friday was once again focused in set-pieces, and in the afternoon the team played the third friendly game on the pre-season visiting Racing Club Vilalbés (3-0 win). This match closed the second stage on the pre-season as the team is resting on Saturday and Sunday.

Now Depor are ready to start the third stage on Monday. The first stage was focused in launching the physical work and make the first medicals to the players, the second was more focused in improving the physical condition and have the first contact with the tactics having three friendly games, now the third and final stage will last three weeks as the team will increase the competition playing seven more friendly matches.

The second stage was also characterized for the first injuries, something that coach Víctor Sánchez described as normal; as he said after the game against Racing de Ferrol, “The players are already dealing with the physical issues. In games like yesterday’s match the distribution of minutes was already prepared, and since we are at the limit then there are players ending performing for more minutes and the issues appear.”

Apart from the case of Manuel Pablo, who suffered a relapse from a hamstring injury suffered on last season, other five players were dragging issues that prevented to see them playing in Friday’s game. Playmaker Luis Alberto joined late the pre-season and started to suffer a groin problem, so he has been training apart.

Midfielder Sergio Teles picked a muscle problem in the game against Racing de Ferrol and has been working apart since Thursday. Meanwhile winger Miguel Cardoso suffered a nose fracture on Tuesday and is also working sidelined. Midfielder Álvaro Queijeiro (hamstring) and right-back Diego Seoane (muscle) were the other players that missed the game with Racing Vilalbés.

Centre-back Albert Lopo (lumbago) and keeper Fabricio Agosto (knock) also missed a session during the week, but they were fine for Friday. 26 players trained with the team between Monday and Thursday, for Friday Víctor called four players from the academy in order to train with the first team, the foruth of them played later in the game against Racing Vilalbés: right-back Blas Alonso, centre midfielder Santi Taboada, centre-back Iago López & midfielder Ángel Fernández.

Finally, Juanfran Moreno signed for Depor on Thursday, but didn’t train with the team. He joined the squad on Friday’s evening and just completed some warming exercises before the game against racing Vilalbés.
