DANI IGLESIAS LEAVES DEPOR

01 Aug 2015
The club informed on Friday that striker Dani Iglesias has rescinded his contract with the club. Depor will keep an option to recover the player lasting until 2018.

Dani Iglesias leaves Deportivo after eight years. The club informed that the striker has rescinded his contract. No further explanations were given, only that Depor keep an option to re-sign the player with a clause lasting until 2018.

The exit of the Santiago-born striker caused surprise among the fans, especially since the club seemed to have faith on the 19-year-old striker, who in 2013 signed a five-year contract with Deportivo, now he leaves after making the first part of the pre-season with Víctor Sánchez (he didn’t travel to Manchester). At the beginning of the pre-season it was commented that he was going to play loaned in a Segunda B club, but in the end both sides decided to part ways.

Iglesias began playing at Infantil B in 2007, two years later he was destroying all the record charts at that team after scoring 39 goals in 33 matches at División de Honor Cadete despite only being 14. Since then he was on the spotlight and his next step was to score 14 goals in 19 matches with Juvenil A.

In 2012 he debuted in Fabril and played at Tercera División during three seasons; totally he made 78 appearances with Depor B scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists.  Dani also had the chance to debut with the first team in 2013, though it was only for three games. One at Segunda (Vs. Córdoba CF) and in the Copa clashes against Córdoba CF and Real Jaén.

The player said good-bye to the fans in a letter that he sent via Twitter, “After eight years I’m leaving Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña. I say farewell to the club of my life, the one that formed me as a footballer and as a person since arriving been 12. I only have positive words for the club, coaches, team mates, officials, doctors, assistants and fans. I fulfilled the dream of my childhood and debuted at the Riazor. This badge will always be with me and I can say with pride that I played at Depor. I go out searching for goals and the chance to keep growing. An eternally grateful Deportivista.”
