Problems at the goal for Deportivo as German Lux is the only available goalkeeper for the game. Atlético, meanwhile, arrives with the full squad available after Luciano Vietto was cleared to play.

Short week for Deportivo, after playing on Saturday the team has to face Atlético Madrid on Friday (Riazor, 20h30 CET). It’s the first match at home before one of the most powerful forces in la liga, a great exam for a team that had a solid start in the competition, but that only picked two of the last nine points in dispute.

Coach Víctor Sánchez is having big problems at the goal, because two of the three goalies at the first team are out injured. Fabricio Agosto remains sidelined with his knee injury, during the week one of his doctors, Manuel Leyes, told to Radio Cadena Cope that the player won’t need surgery and that he should be back in two or three weeks. For the moment the Canarian is training apart from the group.

In the case of Manu, the Asturian goalie missed the last game with Málaga CF after picking a grade 1 adductor muscle injury (mild tear) during a training session. It’s expected that he will back until next week, so the only available goalkeeper for Friday is German Lux, who has been rested during some training sessions as he was dragging an adductor muscle injury from previous weeks. The second goalie for the game will be Fabril’s David Gómez.

The third player out for injury reasons is right-back Manuel Pablo, who hasn’t debuted yet on the season after suffering a Soleus muscle injury, the second injury suffered by the veteran defender on this season. The rest of the team is fit to play.

On Tuesday, Víctor tested two formations, the 4-4-2 and the 4-2-3-1, using different players for the positions, for example in one of the formations Álex Bergantiños was playing as a centre-back, at the same time the coach has been training some movements at the moment of unleashing the counterattack. On Tuesday the team also trained set-pieces.

On Monday there was also time to complete a training session with five players from Depor B. The session included a training match. The lads picked for the session were goalie Anxo Pérez, centre-back Miguel Muñoz, midfielders Bamba N’diaye and Ángel Fernández, plus playmaker Hugo Rama.

Atlético Madrid arrive to the meeting after a refreshing victory hosting Valencia CF (2-1). The Madrilenians have picked seven of the last nine points in dispute and remain as the alternative choice to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Coach Diego Simeone is having a full squad available for the meeting. Striker Luciano Vietto missed the last four games after needing surgery due to Appendicitis. The Argentine received the medical okay to play on Saturday, though it’s probable that he won’t be picked for the match for been lacking match fitness.
