Depor’s coach is aware of the qualities of the rival and expects for a match with alternatives, but Sevilla’s coach is optimistic despite the team didn’t have a good start to the season.

Unai Emery Etxegoien is one of the more respected Spanish football coaches; after four years misunderstood at Valencia CF, plus a failed period at FC Spartak Moscow, this Basque coach landed at Sevilla CF in January of 2013 and little by little earned the confidence of the fans.

The first six months were difficult as the team could only end ninth during the campaign 2012/13, but the following season was simply brilliant. The team had a slow start, but soon grew up and ended the tournament at the fifth spot, and more importantly it conquered the UEFA Europa League defeating SL Benfica in the final. For this reason he signed a two-year renewal, which was followed with a new success in the Europa League. However this has been a tough season as the team was early eliminated in Champions League plus having a slow start in liga.

Emery has a special link with Deportivo as his father, Juan Emery, was the goalkeeper of the Galician team between the years 1959 & 1962. An interesting stat is that Emery never lost a league match as a coach facing Deportivo, this after eleven meetings against the Galicians (9 victories and 2 draws), however he lost in Copa Del Rey as his Valencia was defeated at Mestalla by Lotina’s Depor during the season 2009/10 (1-2).

This is his first confrontation against Víctor Sánchez Del Amo. The current coach of Deportivo worked before for Sevilla CF, it was between February of 2011 and February of 2012 as he was the second coach of Michel.

Depor’s coach addressed the media on Friday’s noon; since the training was delayed one hour he only talked to reporters for five minutes. He started talking of the situation with Fabricio, “These are disgraceful news. We can only focus in the recovery process and let’s hope that everything will be fine. It’s a long-term injury.”

Then he analyzed Sevilla CF, “It is a team that’s very competitive, with a large variation regarding the tactics and the names at the squad. Surely it is going to be difficult. They have different ways to play, with a strong dominion of the set-piece and with a lot of people that can perform at the middle. It’s a great work the one made by Unai Emery and his staff.”

He is aware that Depor could be clinching the fourth straight win in all competitions, “Our challenge is the same. This is a pretty game before a rival that’s among the best. The aim is to search for the victory, just like any other game, knowing that we will face a rival with a high level. We have prepared ourselves in order to win the game.”

Asked about the weapons to fight this rival the Madrilenian man said that, “The same ones that we are trying to develop during all the games. We understand that all the games have different dynamics that need different alternatives and this game will be like this. It’s a team with a great potential and you need to be prepared in all levels, defence and attack. You must be prepared for all the alternatives.”

Finally, Víctor didn’t want to talk of possible signings at the goal during the winter window, “That’s a question for the sporting direction, at our side we are only preparing the game. There’s nothing to be said, because that’s part of the planning.”

Sevilla’s coach addressed the media on Friday’s noon. He is aware that the casualty of Banega is sensitive, but wanted to say that the team must move on, "Banega had to leave the training with the group due to an issue on the soleus, we don’t know if it he will be available on Tuesday against Juventus. It’s the same with Tremoulinas. The team cannot rely on any footballer in order to be competitive and a winner. Before Barcelona we played without some very important players. So you have to adapt and play with the qualities that we have."

The Basque man was talking of Depor and the state of Sevilla after winning in Copa, "We face the game in a line of need, desire to recover the points to achieve our goals. Depor are doing a great season. The victory in Logroño is an important point to continue doing at the Riazor to what we are doing at home. We want to make another big game, like against Valencia. The approach of an evolving Depor will require us to. We want people who played on Wednesday to be ready. It was great to win on Wednesday. "

Finally, Emery was talking of the fight for the Champions League places, "There is equality after Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico. Celta and Villarreal are following a good path, but others are climbing positions. We must be able to do this development. We play now against a team that does things right and under an important line of work. Once I got to the third place with 63 points. It depends on the season, everything changes. We must be on our way in terms of game, I am optimistic because I see that the team is responding to things."
