SEARCHING FOR THE BIG MARKS

09 Dec 2015
Lucas is on the sight of Vicente del Bosque after scoring ten goals in thirteen matchdays. He’s targeting the mar of straight matchdays scoring and could even reach the mark of goals in one single season by Makaay.

It has been a remarkable start to the season for Lucas Pérez. He has called the attention in Spain as he reached the mark of ten goals in only thirteen matchdays, besides he has scored a goal in five straight league games (Atlético Madrid, Levante UD, RC Celta, UD Las Palmas and Sevilla CF).

He is now only one game away of tying the last big mark of Deportivo, which was to see Walter Pandiani scoring in six straight league matchdays during the season 2003/04 (the first six matchdays that campaign against Real Zaragoza, Athletic Club, Sevilla CF, Albacete Balompié, CA Osasuna and Atlético Madrid).

In that opportunity Pandiani scored in seven straight official games as in the middle he also scored once in the Champions League meeting against AEK Athens. The Uruguayan ended the season with thirteen goals in liga. Same mark than Riki during the Primera campaign 2012/13.

So, Lucas is only three goals away of tying the last two top-scorers of Deportivo at Primera División. More challenging will be to tie the best scorers of the Galicians on this century: Diego Tristán during the season 2001/02 (21) and Roy Makaay during the campaign 2002/03 (29).

The numbers of Lucas have even called the attention of national coach Vicente Del Bosque, who last week admitted that his name is in the agenda for next year. Currently there are three Spanish strikers making a sensation season, Real Sociedad’s Imanol Agirretxe has scored eleven goals, while Athletic’s Aritz Aduriz has scored the same ten goals than Lucas.
